The three-building West Village Towers development spearheaded by Cidex Group is about to begin its meteoric rise into the Calgary skyline. Since the summer. construction of the 554-unit development has been defined by extensive excavation of the site. Now, a recent batch of photos from the property show a crane base installed, signalling another impending milestone for the project.
West Village Towers takes up a full city block bounded by 8th Avenue, 9th Avenue, 10th Street and 11th Street. The project website shows the architectural expression of the three glazed towers, with each crowned by a slanted translucent roofline evoking the peaks of the Rockies.
NORR Architects' Calgary and Dubai offices, including architect Yahya Jan, designed the complex, which would also include office and retail space in the base. A series of sloped spaces situated on the podium, punctuated by greenery and outdoor seating areas, demonstrates some of the amenities planned for residents.
Originally a joint venture between Wexford Developments and Cidex Group, Wexford sold their interest in the 'shovel ready' project in July 2015, after municipal approvals had been obtained.
