The bustling hive of construction sites in Calgary's East Village warrants another photo-based visit to the neighbourhood, where in past months, we've followed the progress of a number of developments — Hilton Homewood Suites, N3, Pulse, Studio Bell, and the New Central Library — many of which are complete or nearing completion.
Over the past year, a new platoon of projects have broken ground and are now well underway. The east side of the neighbourhood is alive with four construction sites creating a diverse mix of hotel, rental and condominium buildings. We start with Groupe Germain's ALT Hotel, which is poised to become East Village's second hotel.
Immediately to the south of the ALT site is Verve condominiums, Fram's second East Village development.
Across the street to the south of Verve is Cidex Group's The Hat, a 221-unit building destined to become East Village's first new rental highrise in almost four decades.
Next door to The Hat is Battistella's INK, a 14-floor, 119-unit condominium tower, the developer's second East Village project after the Orange Lofts.
The west side of East Village is also busy, with RioCan's 5th & Third development almost at grade. RioCan has teamed up with Embassy Bosa to build a retail complex that includes two highrise residential towers, and East Village's first grocery store, a new Loblaws CityMarket.
Calgary's East Village is already a proverbial beehive of activity, with no signs of the neighbourhood's evolution slowing down. We will continue to follow the progress of East Village and the various developments in it. To keep up to date check in with SkyriseCalgary or check in on our Forum related threads.
