As it's a rental project, there hasn't been much in the way of marketing for Truman Development's Ventus Block, a new eight-storey mid-rise building straddling the Beltline and Lower Mount Royal. But what we do know about the project is courtesy of our Forum contributors, who have provided photo updates of the development's ongoing construction process.

The topped-out building had been mostly unclad for months, with only dark-tinted windows and 3M-branded insulation giving the structure its public face. But the patience of our users was recently rewarded when the building's exterior finish began installation. To the relief of many, the building is being sheathed in a charcoal black aluminum system, as opposed to the much-criticized EIFS. Soon, Ventus Block's architecture will be articulated in contrasting white panels, with orange accents providing an additional pop to the 17th Avenue elevation.

The building's 64 luxury executive rentals will be joined by approximately 5,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor. It will also join the expansive and growing portfolio of Truman Development, whose mix of single-family homes, townhomes, and condominiums has brought them to all corners of the city. 1741 in Killarney is among their recent completions, and the company has even denser plans just a short walk away, with West 17 in the pre-construction phase.
