It's been 20 years since brothers Paul and Simon Battistella first started their Orange Lofts development in Calgary's East Village, and after several successful projects around the city they have come full circle with another project just a stone's throw from the original Orange Lofts.

Battistella Developments held a ground-breaking ceremony yesterday for their latest project INK, a 14-storey, 119-unit development designed by S2 Architecture.

The building will be situated near the southeast corner of East Village, and will feature a different colour on all four facades. Also featured is a convenient collection of amenities like a collaborative work space, bike workshop, and rooftop patio for all sorts of activities.

After a quick 10-minute demolition, the old sales centre building was knocked flat, and the site is now ready for construction to begin.

We were also able to capture video footage of the main event.
