We all know that buildings don't always turn out like the renderings. Last-minute changes and real-life materials can all cause discrepancies between the vision and reality of a project. In our Flash Forward Friday feature, we take a look at how different projects stack up.

This week we take a look at Oxford Properties' Eau Claire Tower from similar angles to those shown in the renderings. The 25-storey office building developed by Oxford Properties and designed by B+H Architects was recently completed and tenants have now moved in.

Looking at the building from the southeast, we see that the general design is very similar to the rendering. The glass facade is a darker blue, but the pattern on the glass is consistent with the rendering. The general shape of the building is a little taller and more slender looking, but for the most part consistent with the rendering as well.

Next we take a look at the building from the northeast.

For the most part the constructed building is similar, with the exception of the colour of the glass. Just like the view from the southeast, the glass is a darker blue tone. The layout of the streetscape is the same as shown in the rendering.

In our last comparison we look at the roof line of the building. The rendering shows the roof line to be transparent, and this is indeed the case.

The completed version of the roof line may have turned out even better than the rendering and adds nice diversity to the building.

The only noticeable difference for this finished product from the rendering appears to be the colouring of the glass, and even that is reasonably close. The tint of the glass can also vary depending on lighting conditions. Overall the completed product is very close to the rendering.
