In the several months since our last update, progress has been moving along steadily at the site of the SOM-designed, 707 Fifth Street. After topping off back in May, the tower has now received the majority of its glass curtain wall cladding, and is looking more and more like the finished product each day. Recent photos on our Forum highlight the state of progress as captured over the last few weeks.

Built by Manulife Real Estate, the 27-storey, 408-foot office tower will bring more than 500,000 square feet of office space online upon its completion in 2017. Situated in the heart of the financial district, 707 Fifth will place workers next to the CTrain and provide a direct connection to the skyway.

Viewed above, the glazed triple-pane glass curtain wall will be quite translucent, allowing for both an exceptional amount of natural light for workers, while offering a good glimpse of the tower's future inhabitants to passersby. Below, a close-up view of the top of the tower reveals its recently installed signature curves, both along the roofline, and down the length of its side.

Though not nearly as tall as many others now on the rise in Calgary, the tower more than makes up for its modest stature with style. 707 Fifth will soon become one of the most recognizable new buildings in town thanks to its curved profile and smooth glass exterior.

Once complete, 707 Fifth will be a welcome addition to downtown Calgary, part of a recent wave of more design-centric structures to grace the core since the start of the last building boom.

SkyriseCalgary will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
