The 22-acre Riley Park in Calgary's highly desirable Kensington neighbourhood serves as the backyard for the latest residential development by Birchwood Properties. The two-tower collection of upscale residences comes in the form of an intimately scaled eight-storey structure designed by NORR Architects, a prolific force in Calgary's urban architecture scene.
Ezra on Riley Park offers a diverse array of functional floor plans from a 352-square-foot one-bedroom apartment to a 1,681-square-foot designer townhome. Then there's the enormous penthouses, the largest of which will crown the east tower with 3,416 square feet of indoor space attached to a terrace measuring over 6,000 square feet. Smartly appointed 'Cityhomes' will be located on the second floor, units on the third level accommodate space for oversized patios, while loft-inspired flats are equipped with separate entrances and ten-foot-high ceilings.
The project's wealth of unit types are designed to cater to all demographics; the resulting building form is shaped by these interior configurations, with a textured base reflecting the neighbourhood's low-rise aesthetic and the glass-laden volume up top affixed with requisite wraparound balconies.
Ezra on Riley Park will be the first to incorporate a state-of-the-art Remote Concierge program, where a live-link video system provides the services that residents might expect from a traditional concierge, including security, building monitoring, reservations, and event information. Residents can also forgo their gym membership thanks to the on-site fitness centre, which offers advanced cardio and weight training equipment and access to a large balcony for quick breathers. The Ezra Club's full kitchen, two-sided lounge, and guest suite provide the ideal venue for social gatherings; there's a wine storage and tasting area too for the slightly more adventurous.
Construction of the 100-unit development has thus far focused on the first half, with the second to begin taking shape shortly. Ezra will begin occupancy in the summer of 2017, but until then, Forum contributor snorklepowder has provided our Forumers with a glimpse of the views residents can expect to enjoy next year.
