That dark brick turned out to be very heavy looking with the white above it, a bit disappointed by that but overall this turned out well.

I got a closeup look at Steps today, first time seeing it in person for a while. I’m happy with the way it turned out.

I would have liked the original design, but overall this is very solid. I would be thrilled if a dozen more like this were built around the city.

I thought the same thing. I get why they would do it, I mean an open courtyard space like that might end up being a problem. Too bad though, everything else about it is solid.

Convenient timing considering the discussion at the Flyover Block thread. What is the reason for all of those walkway bridges?

You see it a lot in B.C but the open courtyard concept is new to Calgary and our weather. It will be bright and airy in the spring/summer but not so in the winter and ... you have got all that snow/ice removal to think about.

Interior view of the courtyard. It looks much better in real life than it does in the photos. Photos taken in the morning, around 10 AM so the sun hasn’t hit the courtyard yet.

Yeah, interior courtyard looks lame. Is that astroturf grass in there? A nice water fountain would have been better.
