Taza (Tsuut'ina Nation Development) | ?m | ?s | Canderel

Interesting comparison, Canderel recently hired the former head of University of Calgary Properties Group (the team that developed University District) to lead the development of Taza. I think it is in good hands. The comparison is apt, as the lands on U/D remain under University ownership, so all of the buildings are on 99 year leases, a similar set-up to Taza I think.
That’s great news! The block plan seems fine in general, and it looks like it proposes a great deal of density and good mix of uses. These large greenfield developments can just end up feeling a little too much like Disney World.

I really like what they’ve done in U/D. It feels about as organic as a greenfield development can.

One way that Taza could feel more organic than U/D is through exterior material choices, but obviously that comes at a cost.

Weird that they've united 3 unconnected developments as Taza:
* Taza Park (Glenmore & 37th)
* Taza Crossing (west end of 90th/Southland)
* Taza Exchange (west end of Anderson)

And I think Taza Park also includes the land across Glenmore from Westhills (Tsuu Tina Parkway?)

Curious to see the residential that will be on offer... From the article:

“We are currently planning Phase Two at that development likely to include a grocery anchor, a restaurant and potentially residential. We are starting the site work in the spring of 2024 and we’re working on agreements right now with potential tenants and some of them will initiate construction next summer and some of them will be in 2025.”

Buffalo Run is your typical suburban strip mall but nice to see it adding residential nearby.

In Taza Park, which is the land around the Grey Eagle Resort and Casino, the auto dealership Metro Ford has opened as well and Big Four will open too and construction is underway for a Volkswagen dealership. A couple of more dealerships are to come as well.

With Wolfe moving west of West Stoney, I assume these might be net new dealerships.

“We are launching our residential project in Taza Park next fall and we are currently in conversations with residential builders about sites in that neighbourhood and we are currently starting conversations with tenants for our Main Street in Taza Park which will include everything from grocery stores and pharmacies to boutique fitness and restaurants,” said Robertson. “Things are going well. Obviously a long way to go from ideas to creation but I think everyone’s excited about the opportunity.”

More residential is never a bad thing and I think they're moving forward with a retail/commercial development, is that the Main Street?

I saw this on LinkedIn. I am not entirely sure where this is, I assume in the Eagle Landing portion of the project highlighted a few pages ago. It seems a lot of the websites/links related to this project have changed and it is not really consistent. Hopefully that improves as they launch a bigger marketing campaign with the opening of this presentation centre;
