It's way better than the previous design. Both are/were a category away from the beauty of the historic structures. At least this one will look nice and have street level pedestrian connectivity (restaurant entrance, patio, etc). It will be immeasurably better than the piece of shit it used to be.

Yeah I saw it in person the other day and I’m quite happy with the way it’s turning out.
 
I agree man. Just went by and got some pics. They have completely reformatted the interior by adding full width escalators, clearly planning for a restaurant in the base (as evidenced by the massive fold open wall in pic #1) and just otherwise yeah, a great addition.

The angled glass is a good example. Why wasn't it carried across the entire length? At least it would have added some flair to the anonymity while paying homage to the original structure. Instead, it's a wholesale redevelopment with a generic glass box in return. The possibilities were endless. It's not between hostile bank building vs clear glass restaurant.
