At least the design is superior to Stantec.
Looks like TysonR was bang on in the height guessing game!I would bet the taller one comes in around that height, but even a bit more. If the 62 storey one is coming at 252m, the taller one (based on extrapolation of 10 extra floors should come in at around 278m. That's assuming the bottom 5 floors are exactly double the height of a regular floor. Also we don't know if the penthouse floors are a bit taller.
Not all of them were leased by Truman, it's only the ones where the owners wanted to utilize the rental guarantee. But every month they don't lease it out, it's like 10-20k cash going out to owners for the guarantee.Looks like they have 25 units available, which sounds like a lot, but it's a big building - 226 units.
The rental guarantee was pretty necessary in Calgary at that time and may be still. There is zero chance Marriott will own these hotels, they own like 20 properties worldwide, everything else is owned by someone else, operated by them (managed) or owned and operated by someone else (franchised). Louson and Truman probably put up the equity for it, and will sell it once it actually gets built.Rent guaranteed is shady but I don't hold it against Truman. They sold out large developments with the condo market in bad shape. Already mentioned that investors lured in with the ability to put units in a hotel pool being screwed paying commercial taxes on a commercial condo unit. There are more investor unaware of this possible situation that will see dollar bills with the rental pool arrangement. To get to the point, this development is mixed use. There's no near supertall with just a hotel. I would guess Truman and partner is not retaining ownership of the hotels and Marriott owns hotels but, a small percentage of their managed properties. Another hurdle which may not have been crossed yet.
We have some official heights. They'll be released to the public shortly.
taller tower - 70 storeys, 277.3 metres/909'
shorter tower - 63 storeys, 245.55 metres/805'
Or just add a fancy antenna / spire.Let’s start an email campaign to Truman and get them to bump it to 1000’![]()

I was clarifying a post from last week that had people confused. The near supertall comments since then changed my mind that Truman wasn't just yanking our chains. I've been posting on urbantoronto many years before they introduced the pleasures of skyrise. I don't take anything developers say with too much seriousness. It seldom rings true. Numerous projects have been advertised as new tallest including identifying taller than Toronto's First Canada Place only to be taller in floor count than number of metres. I apologize for being confused over the floor count thing being confusing.Truman has said BOTH towers will be taller (not floor count) than our current tallest, Brookfield.
Saying things like Telus Sky is taller by floor count is just confusing for no reason. You could say Telus Sky has a higher floor count, but when people hear "taller" they are thinking in meters and feet.
Funny enough I did hear some early whispers about this over Stampede.I mean heck we actually have an arena and Green Line under construction. I'll know things are going really well here if there starts to be whispers of an actual stadium for our city.
YESSSS!!!We have some official heights. They'll be released to the public shortly.

Not bad at all - pretty impressive actually. For reference, that puts this thing at just over 2 meters taller than Scotia Plaza, the current 2nd tallest (complete) building in the country. Even if all proposals in the country get built, this will be the 13th tallest building in Canada.
If only the ones UC get built plus this, it'll end up the fifth tallest in Canada. Not bad
Disclaimer: I obviously dont count the sticks on the roofs of buildings as part of the height of the structure.
