I have heard East Village is a lower priority for One Properties though. Who knows how long it will be before we see something from them. Also reading that article, it sounds like the deal with Hines fell apart on the Riff Block.

It looks like Minto is launching an East Village project. I have no idea how accurate this image is, no application has been made, but the project is being marketed to investors in Ontario by the looks of things: https://myinvestmentbrokers.com/projects/east-village/

Riff block is still the part I'm most looking forward to. Once that happens and there is more of a destination in EV, things should move quickly.

I wonder if Minto will "value engineer" their project down to a more conventional 6 storey wood frame? That proposal looks great but I could see it being expensive to build...

This may belong in a different thread but what are people's opinions on why there hasn't been a lot of retail growth for the record population growth we're seeing? UD seems to be the only one the last few years.
I would chalk it up to the aftereffects of the COVID era. More people started shopping online, and inflation and stalled wages led to less consumer spending. And for EV specifically, the street life in that part of downtown made it less desirable.
