Maybe all these posts relating to stadiums should be moved to their own forum thread just to keep this one about the Event Centre. Maybe a 'future stadium discussion Cavalry / Stampeders' thread?

Probably the closest thing we have to that in the NHL is Bridgestone Arena because the seating bowl is designed primarily for concerts: https://www.bridgestonearena.com/assets/img/ADAseating_v2-5f332e4c40.jpg

I'm actually sceptical whether that ribbon jumbotron in the Intuit Dome will catch on. It's gonna be a pain in the ass to maintain because it hovers over seats and cant just be lowered down to the arena floor like jumbotrons usually are and the acoustics are gonna be a pain in the ass to tune...

Here's what new Stamps president Jay McNeil had to say about McMahon Stadium: And the possibility of a new stadium:

Despite the Grandstand now being 50 years old I'm skeptical over whether it really needs replacement any time soon. The sightlines are already good, the concourse was recently renovated, there's a suite level with a new restaurant, and it's just not used enough to really warrant the money to...

I wonder if CSEC has looked at the Victoria Park Garage as a possible future stadium site. There's plenty of space for a stadium plus plaza, your close to the green line station, and you can turn 11th Ave into another festival street, and I believe CSEC still has first right of purchase of that...

    Calgary Event Centre | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

The Stampeders new president Jay McNeil has stated that a primary focus of the organization is improving declining ticket sales. It also sounds like the primary reason given by former season ticket owners who have left is the poor quality of the stadium and visitor experience. So a new stadium...

LOL looks like they might be planning to go into their first season without a team name

The jumbotron is from 2007, so closer to 20 years

It's actually 2 large projector screens on each side of the press level at the moment. There used to be 3 large crt screens they hung at each end way back in the 90s - early 00s

This reddit post talks about how bad Delta Center is for hockey: Apparently in the upper bowl seating at the ends of the rink the net closest to you isn't visible!

11th Ave will be torn up for the Green line construction and 6th Street will be extended for the new tunnel under the CPKC tracks

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Like I said before. This thing's so tall I wouldn't be surprised if it gets hit by lightning on occasion during the summer. I wonder if it'll actually have a lightning rod installed for safety.

Utah always didn't make much sense to me. The arena is old, small, and designed for basketball and there are larger cities in the west that are more ready like Houston.

I believe they really messed up in that video on their definition of city limits verses metro city limits or the definition just has differences between Canada and the US because we do have acreage plots like Nashville if you look just outside the city limits. This is NW of the city, just north...

No idea when they'll show up. Maybe in June-July around Stampede time so they can start digging the hole right after Stampede? And then by the time the foundation is set and the hole has been fully dug the design will have passed the DP stage? That's my guess anyway.

I decided to try putting the seating bowl from the last design on top of the excavation and shoring document. I lined up the rinks shown in each and then rotated the 2021 design so the parkades are on the same end. The 2021 design is at 50% opacity.

Those windows definitely don't match the latest render. Hopefully they don't cheap out on the facade

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

With how low our birth rate is we have no choice but to go all in on immigration. If we don't bring in more young people the next generation will have less workers than the last which will lead to a declining economy. More workers = stronger economy. I don't read all that political propaganda...
