    Gallery First & Tenth | 60m | 19s | Truman

Strange. Pretty positive that they demolished all the way up to Salt & Brick. They might be planning on rebuilding it as its not very large at all...

    Gallery First & Tenth | 60m | 19s | Truman

The rendering is misleading. The small building that I understand housed a gay bar for years has been demo'd too. I don't understand how architects cannot get simply features correct in their renderings to the public, like the surrounding buildings that are and are not part of the development...

Agreed The Fifth is poor. Would be 7.5/10 had these used decent quality envelope materials however they chose cheap garbage and it shows.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Never going to happen. 9th Ave is a major artery into downtown from the west. Thee is already a cycle lane on 12th Ave three blocks south, in any case, as well as 8th Ave, one block north. Another one on 9th Ave is not needed at all and I am a big supporter of bike lanes. Traffic already gets...

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

Rumor going around that there is an architectural/structural design issue and that the building exterior frame was not designed to hold up the metal frame envelope. Engineers trying to find a solution to support the frame

    Infill Development Discussion

Agreed. Incredibly bland and plane for townhomes that will be $1M+. Way nicer townhomes in the deep burbs these days such as Alpine Park.

    Inglewood Fire Hall Development | 42m | 12s | RNDSQR | S2

Eaglecrest' ongoing Bankview projects that just broke ground, Varsant and Village, are this scale however too soon to know their finish quality.

An update on this Certus multi-building commercial redevelopment project located across the street from Certus’ office.

    Inglewood Fire Hall Development | 42m | 12s | RNDSQR | S2

Yes this rebuttal is fair. My faux developer comment is more directed at their planned large scale developments. Grow is excellent and General Block and Beacon are very good. All smaller developments and they do those very very well. However, thety are just not cut out for large...

    Inglewood Fire Hall Development | 42m | 12s | RNDSQR | S2

RNDSQR is a very overrated developer IMO. Very good at small rowhouse developments however out of their depth doing anything larger. A couple of years on, their Marda Loop CY33 Commercial tin shed development is an eyesore in Marda Loop's main street. Don't know why Garrison Woods residences...

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I like it. But umm...what happens if the The Flames franchise is sold. Are we left with an arena that has a giant flame for a roof that will look odd? Seems like the entire Events Centre is built around the franchise. Will that come back and bite the city in the future? Guess they can always...

Not sure if this has been discussed yet but the City of Calgary's Development Map now has a 3D feature. It is awesome.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

So I went down here yesterday and it turns out that Certus is developing all three of these older buildings into boutique office, restaurants and cafes. The corner will be called 'Culinary Corner'. Great re-use and addition to 14th St / Marda Loop / Mount Royal.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Two doors west of this on 29th Ave of Marda Loop, Certus have an interesting small project starting this year. Run down residential fourplex being converted to commercial. This corner is a nice addition to Marda Loop and 14th St SW. Certus' office is located in the Our Daily Brett building which...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Arlington Street Investments have sold their building/development project on the SE corner of 17th Ave & 14th Street. Thank god are ASI are generally a value engineered garbage developer who’s end product looks nothing like the proposed design. Bar is pretty low in Calgary though.

    Versant | 16m | 5s | Eagle Crest | FAAS Architecture

These units are going to have some of the best downtown views in the city.

Looks like this one has broken ground!

    Versant | 16m | 5s | Eagle Crest | FAAS Architecture

This has now been approved. Eagle Crest appear to have started their other Bankview project (19th Ave) so this may not start until that one is complete unless they are now large enough to handle several projects at once. We will know soon..

    1601 Kensington Rd | 26m | 8s | Trocan | Gravity Architecture

Looks like the developer of this one, Trocan, are bankrupt. Several of their sites are judicial sale.
