Developers and architects can't really improve the facade of these old office buildings without blowing the budget. Brick, stone and pre-cast concrete are timeless. Adding cladding or painting the exterior makes it look tacky. Leave the exterior materials alone.

How often is there an accident on the Valley Line? Can the city install crossing arms? I can't imagine it's too onerous to install them after the fact.

I really hope they grade separate the 16th Ave and 64th Ave crossings.

When a crash like this occurs how long is service on the line sudpended for? I assume the rails would be damaged during a crash of this nature.

How does that happen? Was the truck not able to stop and just blew through the crossing arms?

Unpopular opinion.... I prefer mid-rise developments over high-rise residential developments. To me, a mid-rise feels cozy and fits into an existing neighborhood well and the beauty of a 6 story mid-rise is that it's cheaper to build and maintain over time. -Wood frame -No emergency generator...
