    Calgary | Stephen Avenue Place Revitalization | ?m | 40s | Slate

Now imagine how hype it would've been if they would have just made that vertical section a big giant LED Screen for World Class Ads and Art! Would've been a perfect location too.

    Reclads

I meant within reasonable grounds. If there was a choice between renovating an office tower in "hopes" of getting new tenants or just taking your loss now and selling the land to a developer. Theres no way the office market will be able to convert or renovate their way out of this mess. It's...

    Reclads

My personal gloomy opinion, office spaces the size of this building should be torn down/re purposed to residential buildings. I don't know how the economics of the process will be justified as someone will lose money but they gotta start picking away at all this extra office space in the City...

    Calgary | Courtyard 33 | 21.64m | 6s | RNDSQR | 5468796 Architecture

Honestly, worst case scenario I can see this project turning out to be "good" if not "excellent." If this is 80% of what the renderings suggested, it's still a solid win for the area. Better than some other companies out here that are showing one thing and building something else.

    Crane Count

Hopefully next summer construction picks up again. We got Victoria Park ramping up with the BMO centre and the new Arena, we also got the Green Line starting construction. Just those 2 or 3 projects will employ a large chunk of the construction industry. Im assuming the cranes will start coming...

    Calgary's Beltline

Well we don't need our own Dundas Sqaure necessarily, that was a bit of sarcasm on my part, but it would be nice to use LED/digital singage more. Like the Lululemon building in Downtown Vancouver or the numerous digtal signs flashing 24/7 on ground level showrooms in NYC, London, Paris, Tokyo...

    Calgary's Beltline

Another great method is throwing on a bunch of well designed LED billboards with proper ads, not from a local realtor. Helps generate revenue too....Where's our own Dundas Square Calgary!?

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

Create direct jobs in Alberta as is the case in Ottawa/Winnipeg, invest in more infrastructure projects (rebalancing the equalization payments), removing red tape around energy projects, start a program to to reeducate and retrain workers while also paying them some form of EI while their in...

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

This is so disturbing. Someone please tell me theres an end to all this bleeding soon? I understand you can't do much to change the situation given the circumstances but I wonder what the reaction would've have been from Ottawa if this was an auto manufacturer in Ontario? Edit* oops i must've...

    Calgary | Arris - 5th and Third | 142m | 41s | Embassy Bosa | Amanat Architect

I've heard rumors that they might just go ahead with rental on the second tower sooner rather than later. When exactly? not sure.

    General Construction Updates

For the longest time as a teen I thought it was public art. Will be glad to see it get finished one day.

Midtown Station | Multiple Buildings | IBI Group | Midtown Station

Then let's hope this plan gets built! With a bit of redesign, I'm rooting for at least a few towers to go up within the next 5-10 years.

Midtown Station | Multiple Buildings | IBI Group | Midtown Station

I doubt this will ever get built out like Westbrook, especially with the amount of greenfield development every year. I do like the TOD concept and density but I don't get why developers haven't understood this simple concept yet, instead of making all these fancy network designs just stick to a...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Major world's tops cities are built on flood plains as well. Only problem with Calgary is they have yet to construct the preventative system. Once proper measures such as the Dam are put in place, we'll most likely not have to worry about another flood unless something environmentally...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Honestly with the state of the economy and glut of housing, I hope they don’t touch the land for another decade or so. We still gotta fill up east village and the upcoming Victoria park redevelopment. Moving forward with the west village Plan is just gonna throw more land In the mix, competing...

    The Beverly | 20m | 5s | M2SC | NORR

barf 🤮 Something suited for suburbs from the early 2010's. Would rather have a 16 storey spandrel tower there. Where's Cidex when when you actually need them?👀

    Calgary Skylines

Is it me or the leaves are starting to change colors much later than usual over the past few years? Maybe climate change? I always freak out when theres snow in the forecast and the trees are still holding on to most of their leaves. Repeat of 2014 Snowtember gives me anxiety.

    Calgary's Beltline

Thats sucks! I can undertsand the Beltline location closing, but the Downtown one is a bit shocker. If anything, it just frustrates me how the Cities shortsighted vision allowed for so many office towers to go up in one centralized location. The lack of residential towers in the Core really...

    Calgary | West Village Towers | 150m | 41s | Cidex Group | NORR Dubai Yahya Jan

The podium does remind me of the Edmonton library. Seems like Edmonton and Calgary are destined to be always alike no matter how hard we try to look different.
