    Calgary | The Hub | ?m | 28s | Campus Suites | ARK Inc.

This is going to age terribly. It already looks like someone plucked out of the 70s, with 10 years of dirt and dust from crowchild it will look like a soviet relic.

    Calgary | West Village Towers | 150m | 41s | Cidex Group | NORR Dubai Yahya Jan

I think they are turning out great still. and I like how they fit that part of the skyline even more than I thought they would. Well done.

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

No doubt they "know." However what I have seen from this government in my dealings with them is that knowledge of polling data doesn't always dissuade them from making ideological choices. Internally they really do have a sense of invincibility still. They believe they will be able to recover...

    Calgary | Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I have seen internal polling numbers. The UCP need to tread carefully not to erode their support in Calgary any further. This is definitely an issue that should be attacked to UCP representatives if you have the will: tell them that denying funding for the green line is an issue that will lose...

Calgary | Northland Village Mall Redevelopment | Primaris | Dialog Architects

This mall was old and worn out 20 years ago. No surprise at all that it is old and worn out still today!

    Calgary | TELUS Sky | 222m | 60s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Lol some of y'all are just living to complain. What a phenomenal addition to the city. I hope that future art installations for big public projects are even 1/2 as good as this one. We could be looking at a giant blue steel hoop. Instead we are complaining about one or two missing LEDs. Did...

    Calgary | Arris - 5th and Third | 142m | 41s | Embassy Bosa | Amanat Architect

I actually love the H-Mart in Edmonton. Great selection of unique culinary items for us canadians. And not super pricey! Also I just like the atmosphere more than T & T, though I will say it being far newer helps that. They have a great little ensemble of quick service restaurants attached to it...

    Calgary | 11th + 11th | 138m | 44s | Intergulf | Ramsay Worden

"we did minimal work on site for all of 2019 due to COVID" lol

    East Village Courtyard | 108.00m | 33s | Gibbs Gage

Don't get the dislike of these at all, I think it is a fantastic project. Especially if they keep the materials at ground level the same. Dope.

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

I've posted about this before, but having lived in Ann Arbor, driving through Detroit is surreal. The far suburbs of the Metro area (which is geographically enormous, makes calgary look like childsplay) are booming- huge houses, endless construction. It gets progressively worse as you approach...

    General Construction Updates

unrelated but EAP is such a beauty. We were lucky those were built when they were.

She looks like such a thiccc lady from some angles, and nice and slender from others. Beauty.

    Calgary | TELUS Sky | 222m | 60s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

I am so happy this got built before all of this upset in the economy. What a great project.

Is Calgary moving toward the extinction of single-family homes?

Not only the declining economy- I think this social experiment of working from home many of us are now pulling is going to change things as well. In addition to heightened scrutiny for crowded/ dense places that will no doubt linger in our society.

    Calgary | West Village Towers | 150m | 41s | Cidex Group | NORR Dubai Yahya Jan

I would prefer the stagger too. Hell, Cidex could really blow us away and make the second one 175... lol. I do like that they are flipping the orientation of the second tower at least.

Does anyone wonder if the en masse working from home/ online education will lead towards a trend in real estate changes? I wonder if the work from home experiment that's happening now changes office habits more quickly.

    Calgary | Oxford Tower | 262m | 62s | Oxford Properties

I wonder if Encana would agree with this sentiment. What about a mixed model like Telus Sky? I can certainly understand the desire to maximize return on the site (and it's not like Oxford doesn't have the pocket change to bear waiting...) but I would be interested to know how longer periods of...

    Calgary | TELUS Sky | 222m | 60s | Westbank | Bjarke Ingels Group

Calgary is pretty blessed with signature architectural pieces for a city of it's size, so while it's a shame, it's natural for it to ebb and flow a bit. Any bets on what will become the next big signature tower? My bet would be ~6 years down the line, a Shangri-La level hotel/JW Marriott with...

    Calgary | Glenmore Gardens III | 54m | 17s | Great West Life

It's a minor nuisance, but Operater is harmless, and genuinely seems to want to be a part of the community here. Is there a way to ignore an individual users posts? I would suggest that is a better solution that denying access entirely. This is a nice place where we can all get along.

    Calgary | Oxford Tower | 262m | 62s | Oxford Properties

Even if we do get $150/barrel back tomorrow, no one will want to build out pure office projects long term. The market has proven out that mixed use rides out long term economic cycles way better to generate a consistent return, and that's what all of these developers (Pension fund and bank...
