    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Video of the Green Line construction industry event that was held the other day. A few tidbits from the video I wasn't aware of before. Opening day is being targeted as June 30, 2031. It kind of sounds like that might be between Shepard and the Event Centre station, not necessarily 7th Ave...

    The Kenten | 40m | 9s | Davignon Martin

Is the portion of this building that faces Kensington Road also being redone as part of this redevelopment? Most of the tenants along there were being pushed out and so I assumed the entire block was being redone however recently there seems to have been new tenants popping up along that north side.

I would encourage people with concerns about this ridiculous intersection design to reach out to the project team to voice them. I agree that how they have designed these intersections just invites pedestrian/cyclist conflicts and creates the potential for injuries. A "slow down mixing zone" was...

Those rooftop amenities look really cool! The dog runs seem to becoming standard in a lot of projects now but I like the addition of what appears to be community garden boxes.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

This was the part of the platform Farkas ran on. Not sure what the mode-split is these days but fairly certain whatever it is, this approach would be a budget boost.

My first time coming across this. Anyone have any insight into what it is or how it's been working out so far? Sounds like an interesting concept.

    East Village Truman Hotel | 24m | 6s | Truman | NORR

Ya that parcel was purchased by Minto in 2022 with a groundbreaking originally planned for 2023. Maybe the market softened to the point where it no longer made sense? Great to see a hotel as that will probably help activate the community better than more residential at this point. I'm also...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Shortlists for all the companies who will bid on the bulk of the Green Line work was announced today. I believe the tracks and signaling are the only major contracts that still need to go through the RFQ/RFP process. The announcement also included an interesting map of how the project is getting...

The area Councillor was also a main opponent to all of these projects and said Councillor just lost his seat so perhaps things might change in Chinatown over the next 4 years....

Normally I wouldn't obsess over what one candidate for mayor says but the creation of political parties changes the dynamics this election. The Communities First candidates in Wards 3, 4 and 7 are all running pro-Green Line North platforms but the mayoral candidate just said she's cool with a SE...

    Eau Claire Place II | 68m | 17s | Pacific Reach

I went by here the other day and I have to say it actually looks a lot better in person and once they have fully finished painting it, I think it will be improved even more. I like it better than the shorter tower next to it where they just added some random blue spandral next to the windows.

New playground is now open at Eau Claire Plaza... it's a climber's paradise. Also, they have added caps to the mister fountains for the winter to take advantage of the lighting features. Gives a cool appearance.

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

Had they gone with Alberta's official motto (as in the Latin one), I could have gotten behind the rebrand. Using the English translation, which just so happens to match the UCP's official motto, is crass partisan politicking in my view. The graphic plate designs are also boring. Plus, in the...

    Stampede Hotel | 57.5m | 14s | Truman | NORR

Wish they had kept the old mustache pool design with the bar. It would have made for some epic Stampede parties with the views of the fireworks and the grounds. The new design is more or less just a pool.

The article makes it sound like Arlington materialized out of thin air. Where did they get initial capital from to start buying up all these random lots in the first place?

Sharp and McLean asked for a fare gate study in 2023 and it showed they wouldn't accomplish what they wanted them to and would cost almost $300 million to fully install. Despite that, we are apparently back to talking about fare gates as the solution.

Some strange layouts. All the angles would drive my OCD nuts in trying to arrange furniture. Also not a fan of the unfinished industrial look they went for, however I know there's a demographic that loves it and this is definitely a good location/building to try it.

Will have a big impact on Quarry Park. I wonder if it will be easy to find a company to take over the office space Imperial will be leaving? https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/imperial-oil-downsizing-1.7646918

My hope is that once the Saddledome is torn down, the banks of the Elbow River in that location will become an enlarged park space for the grounds.
