My expectations for the quality of cladding couldn't possibly be lower. However, assuming their quality isn't too bad, I would love to see a million more of these. What a great building typology for the area.

    Mintoft Place | 14m | 4s | Cedarglen | NORR

I'm aware it was originally designed as a highway. That doesn't change the fact that it is now redundant and should be redesigned

    Mintoft Place | 14m | 4s | Cedarglen | NORR

Blackfoot Trail takes up an obscene amount of space. This was a big missed opportunity to fix it.

    Crane is getting taller!

    Stampede Hotel | 57.5m | 14s | Truman | NORR

Make stampede "park" an actual park and either do a new gondola or (my preferred option) do a big permanent London eye style ferris wheel

    Stampede Hotel | 57.5m | 14s | Truman | NORR

The exterior cladding material is all right, but to be honest for such a huge budget I would expect something more high end.

    Broadway on 17th | 154m | 47s | Vesta | Zeidler

Level 1 plans are blacked out for some reason but it's super easy to remove the censor

    The Edgewater | 30.6m | 9s | Trico Homes | S2

Absolutely insane that a site like that right next to the riverwalk is so undesirable, but that's the sad reality of how badly the city messed up that part of town decades ago

    The Edgewater | 30.6m | 9s | Trico Homes | S2

yeah would be great if they could keep those trees. Even with them though I don't see how ground level townhomes could work on that site given a) 4th Ave is a total shit show and b) the DIC is right there

    well this is disappointing.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Huh. That's disappointing. Seems like a great project to have some legit family sized units

They're (likely) talking about how statistically smaller businesses are unable to compete with Walmart and they usually have to go out of business when Walmart enters a market. This is certainly true for small towns, I'm not sure how true it is for the downtown of a big city.

Idk but it looks cute. I guess we've demolished worse

    Broadway on 17th | 154m | 47s | Vesta | Zeidler

Also I just realized it looks like they're demolishing this building which is actually super lame

    Broadway on 17th | 154m | 47s | Vesta | Zeidler

It looks like the forecourt has shrunk a bit which is kinda lame. It'll probably still be good though

    Crown Surplus | 20.36m | 6s | KN

The parking faces the tracks though, correct? So at least you'll never have to really see the parking lot as the building covers it all up. Agreed it's super lame though.

I would be utterly floored if that whole thing is brick. There's no way a developer would spring for that when they could get away with hardie board

    Arts Commons | 18m | 4s | City of Calgary | KPMB

I think I'm alright with it because let's be honest, they would not have sprung for the extra cost of treating the wood properly so it would have aged horribly

I actually spoke with someone who is pretty familiar with the project and they said it is NOT wood. It will be aluminum, possibly with a wood grain pattern applied
