    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Why do I feel like Populous is gonna shit the bed on this. Why are they just handing such an important project to an office like populous. Redesigning stampede park is a monumental task and a generational opportunity. It should be put to a design competition and we should be getting...

Maybe 17th and Macleod will become a premiere destination and prestigious address. One day. Maybe before the heat death of the universe

One can dream... Macleod is such a blight on downtown (and in general)

I'd hate it a lot less if the built out squares followed some pattern rather than being placed randomly

Yes the setbacks do really lower the quality. The bar is so ridiculously low for design in Calgary I am still impressed, especially when it's Dialog were talking about.

They're doing terracotta???? Ok this might turn out REALLY good. Do we know if there are CRUs or what's going on in that alleyway? It looks like it could be really cool

Both designs are pretty great. I'm sad we're only getting one and not both :( On another note, it's interesting how Dialog Calgary seems to be exceptionally good at residential design, whereas they and every other Dialog office in the country are completely awful at designing anything else.

Yeah my issue isn't the materials or colour (assuming they turn out nice, though now that I think about it red and green is a pretty bad colour combination unless it's for Christmas lights). My issue is just with the massing of that portion. It looks really awkward

The red part looks like it could be really good, but the other (green?) part in the third picture does not look good

For how aggressively they're marketing it and the insane amount they are charging this thing better damn well blow the renders out of the water. I'm expecting extremely high quality materials and detailing because the overall design itself is extremely bland. There's nothing wrong with a boring...

In person the cladding doesn't look awful. Certainly not an atrocity, give me a break. From far away it looks good, up close I'm seeing some issues with seams between panels. It doesn't look like the cladding was installed very well tbh.

    Nostalgia Townlet I ?m I ?s I Jayman Homes

Spoiler: they will not use nice materials and it most definitely will not be walkable (except for a select area). The community is inherently limited by its location. Just like every other neighbourhood in the area everyone will need to own multiple cars just to live and if you want anything...

This whole thing is completely ridiculous. And jayman is going to make so. much. money from it

Some updates from CMLC. https://www.calgarymlc.ca/articles/construction-start-albert-park-radisson-heights-attainable-housing-development Anderson, fish Creek Lacombe, and Dalhousie stations have been selected for "transit oriented communities" There are also some interesting EV updates. Are...

I always thought the C of Red was used to refer to the fans inside the arena. Those viewing outside the arena can have another (equally cool) name. The "fire pit" is cool, but yes kind of ripping off Edmonton (even though our name would make sense and theirs is stupid)

The MAX lines are completely useless if they don't have priority and ideally grade separation along their entire route. It's ridiculous that they're considered rapid transit
