    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I always thought the Denny's was kind of funky for a Denny's, but this will be a good addition, especially if they decide to do a color change before building it. White with one other accent color and it would actually look pretty good IMO.

I'm okay with the looks, mainly because of its location, but I wonder how dirty that south side is going to look after a winter full of 16th ave traffic. Hopefully they give the facade regular cleanings.

Pretty much par for the course, but I'll take a hundred of these thank you.

    Statscan numbers

Toronto has a ton load of residential towers still u/c, so I'm guessing the numbers will be on the slow side for a while

That's good news. Nice to see another development going ahead along 16th ave. For the one on 11th ave, could it be this one? (Copenhagen)

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Okay, I see the point, and in this case it looks like it's not fair to Edmonton, but in the grand scheme of things it's pretty minor. Edmonton also gets to be the capital and have the vast majority of provincial government jobs. We'd be glad to take the prisons, but we'll want the legislature...

    Statscan numbers

October Housing starts are out, with Calgary's at the top of the list (4th time this year). In the other metros, Montreal having a strong showing, but the rest kind of sluggish numbers, especially Toronto which kind of surprised me. Ottawa Gatineau still sluggish, but up from last month. City...

    Forum Issues

Okay, I'll pass that along. I usually do the attach file method and it seems to work, but I've never tried the dried and drop.

I'm able to upload pics, so hopefully it's fixed now. If still having issues let me know, and I'll pass along to the webserver admin.

Unfortunately Sentinel won't be finished by the time of the next federal census, but will be in time for the civic census of 2027.

    West District | ?m | ?s | Truman

West District may be a while to catch up on U/D, and may never fully catch up as U/D has a couple of advantages right off the start. It's beside a 38,000 student university, and a hospital. It's also in the middle of a large area of established residential that doesn't have a lot of retail...

Hmm, weird. Does it give some sort of error message?

I'm happy it's a low-rise building. I like the high-rises, but I'd like to see more lowrises interspersed around the Beltline.

AI Data Centre Industry Discussion Thread

There will be some jobs related to the data centres themselves, though I don't think it'll be big numbers. As much as anything, the data centres will help boost the natural gas industry. A strong natural gas industry would be good for Alberta as oil declines.

    Calgary Then and Now

I'm pretty sure that's from an old Hockey night in Canada clip. Very unflattering for sure.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I've never tried to do this, but if i took a picture of the truck parked in the cycle lane, and sent the photo to the city, I wonder if they would get a ticket? They would quickly deter people from parking in those spots.
