I honestly think this is the single best site for a tall building in the area. Perfect place for it.
Although I noticed in the render that the units facing 3rd Ave appear to be residential. I hope that changes, I think those units facing Kensington should 100% be CRU's. That's some seriously...
You can almost tell reading through that website that they're expecting opposition to this... They're arguing pretty hard for the density boost. Hopefully they get it!
I can almost guarantee that this will get appealed or even go to court though, those Kensington NIMBY'S are on another level.
So apparently Greenwich has a younger sibling named Upper Greenwich. Noticed on DMAP that a DP has been released to start stripping and grading work on a huge parcel north of Greenwich. https://developmentmap.calgary.ca/?find=DP2021-8113
Started digging around and came across they're website...
It's funny but I'm pretty sure they've changed their plans significantly since releasing that promo.
This photo from their website appears to show a change of plans for the western most piece on this parcel, and given the recent development permits it seems to me that they're shifting...
Overall I think the fifth turned out okay, but there's something about the materials on the first two stories that just feels cheap. I'm afraid this building might not age super well. I really wish developers would put more effort into at least making their podium materials high quality
Love him or hate him, I'm inclined to share his sentiment about the Midtown proposal. Is there a more detailed explanation for why it was shut down? White says it had to do with the ARP, but that seems too simple.

I'm glad to see the LAP might actually be doing what it was meant to. I get that community associations are often frustrated when the city updates an ARP or LAP and developers immediately ask for exceptions. That being said, I'm also glad to see the community association supporting a proposal...
DMAP says the permit for this project was released on April 5th! Hopefully this means it'll be breaking ground soon! Can't wait for this and the Gramercy to be completed and University Ave will really start feeling complete
As someone who often drives this route during rush hour I'm glad something is being done, but it's a really odd solution.

Wow. I thought the guidebook was contentious! Good for Edmonton if they can make it happen, but I have a hard time imagining this going over well.
I have to say I like that they're actually going ahead and just blanket up-zoning. I wish the LAP process went as far as actually up-zoning.
This isn't Calgary, or even AB related, but a 42 story tower is breaking ground in Kelowna soon and I just gotta say it's nuts what's going on in that city.

Calgary probably has one of the best craft beer scenes in the country.
My personal favorites are The Establishment and Cabin Brewing.
Other good ones are Dandy, Outcast, Citizen, Last Best, 88, and Fahr!
Looks like Co-op is pushing ahead with Oakridge and North Hill projects, and it seems that they're prioritizing their Mardaloop project over Brentwood and Dalhousie.

It's hard to imagine looking at Calgary's housing market that there's a severe housing shortage in Canada. I feel like I keep hearing about how there aren't enough homes being built in this country, but when I look around the Calgary market there's a ton of potential housing waiting to be built...
