    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

I'd like to see 19th street and 16th Ave. go ahead with a simple interchange.

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

I know I'm on the wrong thread...but a cheaper alterative would be to implement MAX service BRT from West District to Downtown. With a few tweaks in the road network, the city could move more people, more efficiently to downtown. Build a bus-only westbound off-ramp from Bow Trail to Coach Hill...

    Roads, Highways & Infrastructure

What is the efficacy of this interchange? How much money will it cost to build vs. how many cars/people will it move? What I'm trying to say, is it really required? Could the money be better spent towards something else?

    Calgary Regional Rail Transit

I have a co-worker that takes the Airdire ICE into work everyday and he hates it. It's slightly cheaper than driving. His two biggest complaints are: -The bus is slow and gets stuck in traffic along Deerfoot -Last bus to leave downtown Calgary is a little after 5pm. So if he has to work OT...

I'm too young to remember, but I heard that 16th Ave. used to be a complete mess for auto traffic. Particularly, semi-trucks passing through as it was on the Trans-Canada Highway and the ring road was not opened yet. I think the widening of 16th Ave. was a waste of money as the city should have...

    Calgary Regional Rail Transit

I don't know much about the feasibility of this...but is it possible to utilize the existing Calgary to Edmonton freight line for a passenger rail service? Obviously you'd have to twin the track where needed and grade separate the track where needed. But can a high speed passenger train share a...

I'd love to see a bus-only transitway installed down the median of 16th ave for the MAX Orange line. Something similar to what was installed on 17th ave in Forest Lawn. I think it would greatly increase bus travel times and increase transit ridership.

East Village: Success or a long ways away yet?

Those are all good points. And Yes...it's easier to take care of yourself when you have a safe, consistent place to sleep and to keep your belongings. But a house is just a house. It's waste of resources to house a homeless person without giving them adequate access to mental health resources...

    Colonialism and design choices discussion

I read that twice, then I took a 10 minute break and read it again. I still have no idea what de-colonization means.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Thanks for posting this. Based on simple calculations: 1. A four car high-floor train can accommodate 724 passengers and comes in at 104m in length. 2. A two car low-floor train can accommodate 576 passengers and comes in at 84m in length.

The sad thing is Double L Car Motors is right on 9th Ave and less than 60m away from the Blues Can.

Didn't seem to be an issue with Sunalta. If the province is dead-set on an elevated LRT, why not build an elevated section over the CP tracks with stations that also span the CP tracks and have access to both downtown and the beltine. Pros: -Serves the Beltline and Downtown -Cheaper than...

    Calgary Transit

Do we know if the Centre street BRT is going to be a new MAX line (and colour)? Or will it still be route 301?

When a road gets re-paved, that's usually the best time to add cycling improvements such as bike lanes and cycle tracks.

It's a good opportunity to demolish the parkade and build an elevated station over the CP tracks that serves the Beltline and Downtown. Or...if structurally possible...retain the existing parkade and convert it to an LRT station.

Good to hear the project is restarting! I'm glad they're using high-floor trains. Increased speeds and capacity along with interchanging with Blue and Red lines.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

That's very true. My guess would be that people are 'Taking one for the team' by purposely lowering their property value.

What's wrong with desiring to live around people that share a similar identity, culture or religion?

That's very ture. But whether the SE LRT uses high-floor or low-floor vehicles, the ARPs, TOD sites, road alignments, streetscape upgrades, bike paths, public amenities, utility upgrades doesn't really change much. Design fees are a tiny portion of the overall construction budget.

I think CT only running 3 car C-trains until the Haysboro storage facility expansion is complete.
