Agreed. Vinyl/hardie sidings need to be banned from midrises. Rather see a nice Stucco colour.

It's crazy how many project proposals we see in Calgary that seem to indicate they're about to take off but they just end up quietly disappearing from the limelight. Skyrise's equivalent to being blue-balled.

Exactly! It's disheartening to see proposals like Kensignton 9A, which lacks ground-level retail despite its prime location right at the doorstep of an LRT station in the heart of Kensignton. Meanwhile, the Skytrain at New Westminster station stops practically inside of a movie theatre. We just...

I still can't believe Macto has complete ownership of such a large site next to a semi-underground LRT station and hasn't done crap with it over the last decade. In these sorts of situations, a vacant lot tax needs to be hammered on. If you can't get shovels in for a high-density designated site...

Calgary and TODs? recipe for an epic disaster.

Wow if Calgary looked like that, I'd stop complaining about future shitty proposals.

Wow, what a shame :( Not only do we lose a lot of density/homes from the absence of a tower but I was looking forward to a highrise extending westward along 17th Ave. I kind of already assumed that ASI wasn't capable of executing a tower yet, so I was expecting them to hold off on developing...

Stayed true to the rendering. It would've been awesome to see another 5-10 of these being built right now in the Beltline/Core. These sort of tower designs may be generic but they're still solid at serving a functional purpose in the health of an urban core.

These are actually so nice. I wish they were taller, 25+ storeys.

    General Construction Updates

I went past these courts a week or so ago and I really think they need to add some spotlights for when the sun sets. I saw so many hoopers playing well past dusk. These courts have definitely brought vibrancy to the park but there's still room for improvement.

    Kit at Kensington | 50m | 15s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

I don't think we've seen this rendering here. It gives a good idea of the scale of this development relative to its surrounding area. I personally like the size. It doesn't seem out of place but is still prominent. However, I'm still bummed they didn't put retail along 3rd Ave, especially since...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

^Instead of throwing federal money to fund a limited number of housing developments, the federal government should redirect the money to offset interest payments for developers (sort of how the City set up a fund to subsidize office conversions) and remove GST on residential construction/sales...

This one’s been topped off pretty much. There is a lot of concrete work still left to do around the ground floor of the building .

??? No way! That sucks. This would’ve been a perfect location for a hotel

1 mil for a 3 bedroom 2000 sq ft. home? What a tragedy to happen to Calgary 😔. Thought this city would be safe from experiencing pricing similarly seen in Toronto and Vancouver.

It's appalling to me that the federal government is still stubborn about cutting back immigration numbers temporarily. Decades worth of scare about the consequences of not replacing an aging population has fueled these immigration targets. Yet, I can't imagine it being any worse than what is...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Crazy to think we're going to have a highrise building recession, especially given the current demand for housing. It wasn't this slow even during the height of the oil crash a few years back. All levels of government should immediately step up to encourage more development. Some actions I can...

Given its location, I'm fine with 0 parking. I wouldn't mind more future residential developments downtown doing this in exchange for cheaper rent.
