Any word on how things are looking for TPQ? I am looking at using TPQ to go down to Mexico this winter.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

There's been a definite change in the length of Calgary's falls. The biggest thing that I've seen is the absence of those early frosts. In the past Calgary would often have nice weather through t=until mid November , sometimes even longer, but there was a always a heavy frost in early September...

    Statscan numbers

With Toronto and Vancouver having slower starts this year, there's a chance Calgary coild end up number one overall, but most likely, will be third, albeit not far behind Vancouver or Toronto.

    General Construction Updates

Totally! I mean, it's what 6 parking spots? The space could be used for so much better. A patio in that spot would be great.

I think of high-rises as 12 floors, and towers as 14 or more. That's just me, so I'm also going to go with 8 :). It still sort of depends on the shape of the building though. A 14 story building with a thin profile feels like a tower to me, but a 14 storey building with a huge floorplate might not.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

This is kind of where I fall with respect to the green line. I like both HF and LF for different reasons, but the incongruity of the whole design makes it hard to pick one. My main nitpick about LF is the handling large volumes of people. On the low floors systems I've been on, it didn't take a...

    Calgary International Airport

So many of the people I know who travel to South Asia or the Middle east, go through London, and a fair amount through Frankfurt and Amsterdam. Also those hubs when going to other Euro destinations. Barcelona, Paris and Rome, seem to be more of the tourists local to those areas.

    Calgary Municipal Politics

I expect one of the first orders of business will be blanket zoning, as it seemed to be the hottest issue of the election. Apparently 8 of the 15 have stated they'll repeal it, so it's possible it might be gone. The positive side I'm hearing from some of the opponents of blanket zoning is that...

    Calgary International Airport

Canada has will and will have a large Asian population, but for Canadians, and even many Asian Canadians, Europe is still the huge destination for tourists. I'm sure it'll change as time goes on. For Calgary, we can also reach European destinations easier than Asian destinations.

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

My south facing rose bush and mint is still going strong. Apples on the tree aren't growing anymore, but I'm still picking them. I see the weather looks to be solid right up to Halloween where it's forecast at 19C. So often we seem to get a dump of snow right before Halloween, and then cold...

    East Village Truman Hotel | 24m | 6s | Truman | NORR

Regarding the fence, they could easily create a win-win by simply raising the park/pool area one floor up, and having retail/resto fronting the pathway. The guests still get their secured pool area and the river pathway gets a bot more retail..

Agreed, though I understand why they are doing it.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Would be nice if they could have some sort of atrium so as to allow natural light into the campus. Would be a nice central location and also tied to an historic building, it would be a cool spot for an arts campus.

Would the downtown Bay work as a new AUA campus? Assuming they added some floors somehow.

    Calgary Municipal Politics

Ah, I misread it. I thought 0.5% was already the defined threshold. Agreed, it should be standardized. Also it looks like they are still determining some of the criteria for the recount. Whether it should be all polling stations in the ward that was >0.5% difference or just the polling stations...

    Calgary Municipal Politics

Yep. Ward 9 was close, but about 5.0% difference, Ward 12 was really close at 0.425% difference. I agree with others though, the threshold is already defined as 0.5% difference and it should be based only on whether that number is less or more. If someone brings forth a case of outstanding...
