I usually don't agree with CA's opposing developments, but in this case I agree with them in that parking at the back would have been better. They could have has a couple of retail units fronting the street as well.

It must be viable to some degree. We are still seeing plenty of highrise, even lowrise concrete buildings being built.

Is there anything proposed for that site where the building is being demoed? (pic in above post)

Maybe a market like the one you've described could be part of the city's downtown revitalization plan? Technically that spot is in the Beltline, but there is also another empty lot on the north side of the tracks that could be used. The city could use money from the revitalization plan to buy...

If this and the Plaza 54 location managed to get developed it would be a decent boost of residential to the CBD, particularly on the north end of it. Throw in First and Park, and residential on the lot south of the Shaw building, and maybe we get to the critical mass to kick start the NW part...

Does anyone know how many parking levels down this will go? I wonder if the leveled out portion is the bottom?
