    Calgary Transit

What about the 24,000 people who work at the airport? Lots of us would much rather take transit to work if it was served by LRT and not some "express" bus that seems more of an afterthought and is still slow as hell. I'm not saying airport staff taking transit would be enough to justify it...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Cool thanks. So a three car consist on the Green line will be much longer than a three or even four car consist of the current Red/Blue line LRV's. I seem to remember the tunneled section downtown will be under 8th Ave? Or was that an old plan?

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Can those trainsets be coupled together to make a longer consist for peak demand? Forgive my laziness to back through a 100+ page thread but have they finalized all the design yet? Like how much of this will be underground? The animated renderings on YouTube are about 7 years old now.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I'm sure most on here would agree, but to do that we need to make it easier to be a pedestrian. I had to take my car to the shop today, then walk home. What a frustrating experience. A few hundred meters of sidewalk, unplowed, then it abrubtly stops for no reason and I'm walking on compacted...

    Midtown Station | ?m | ?s | IBI Group

I'm a total layman with this stuff, but why do some of you think this will never happen? Just too big of a project for Calgary? Too many regulatory hurdles? I'm not trying to challenge your opinions, I'm just genuinely curious as I'd love to see this go forward. To me this is the kind of...

    Heritage Station Towers | 79m | 27s | Westcorp | GEC

Glad to see this potentially going forward. I don't really care about the design that much, Horton Road is nasty and needs more development. Hopefully more of these developments around Heritage Station go ahead.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Oh yeah I forgot to mention. It'll be mix of condos and rentals with the ratio to be hashed out a later date.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

I attended the webinar about this development. I took some screenshots of the slides they showed. They have reduced the buildings heights due to community concerns. Pretty long term project, final phases we're talking 20+ years. Entire site will have underground parking. The slide showing the...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Ah gotcha. I wonder what the chances are of this thing actually going ahead.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Speaking of Macleod trail, what ever happened to that Midtown Station idea? I think it called for a chunk of land on the East side of Macleod in Fairview to be redeveloped and even a new LRT station?

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Would that mean a complete redesign and do-over to Heritage station? I assume so as Heritage Dr. is right next to the station. I know nothing about urban planning or design but I always thought if money was no issue it would be cool to put the LRT underground from Heritage Station north with...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I live in Haysboro and would love to see some improvements to the area around Macleod and Heritage. I feel bad for those who bought in the London buildings thinking the other two towers would be built and the area around be redeveloped. Horton Rd. is nasty. If this project at Heritage Plaza goes...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Apologies if this has been discussed already but does anybody know anything about this potential redevelopment of Heritage Plaza (the plaza with London Drugs) on the corner of Heritage Dr and Macleod Tr? If you click on the shadow study they have a very rudimentary rendering...

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Could also be the slow generational shift happening in Haysboro in the last 5 to 10 years. Elderly empty nest original home owners either selling their house or dying off and Yuppies with small children moving in. I've seen a lot more young families around here lately.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

I always thought affordable housing and low income housing were two different things? "Affordable" housing = developer throws a few 500sq ft one bedroom apartments in each building. Low income housing = rental units subsidized by Calgary Housing for low income people who'd qualify for partially...

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

With RioCan being a REIT I wonder if the residential will be all rentals?

Here's a couple of screenshots taken from the design framework PDF that was posted by the city. Here's the link: https://www.calgary.ca/planning/projects/glenmore-landing.html?fbclid=IwAR16LUDEqjQMz-5jmF5ZIKRR511w7LM9OonIStr_OGreKK_2fVnfIDJe-mY

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

According to the city's shadow study there are times of the year where the shadows will stretch into Haysboro at certain times of the day

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

The opposition in Haysboro seems mostly about potential shadowing over parts of Haysboro if this development ends up being high rises.
