    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

The Len Werry building started construction in spring of 1973, and looks far into its build. I would say probably spring of 1975

    Covid-19

I feel like we’re so close to the finish line, The finish line being almost everyone vaccinated and very low case numbers. We just need to hang tough 3-4 more weeks and cases and hospitalization will drop significantly. If we do the hard work now, we can be good to go for the summer, including a...

    Kings by LaCaille | 113m | 35s | LaCaille Group | S2

The design change would have cost some money, but fairly minimal. Once the DP was approved they’d be spending more on actually builder construction plans.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

This is maybe the downside of Calgary’s unicity model. The ratio of suburban build is very high compared to urban build, and it makes it hard for an elected council to change the tax structure. A proposal to increase taxes for less dense areas and decrease for inner city areas makes total sense...

    Covid-19

IMO closing the schools seems logical. It’s much easier to close schools than to shut down businesses. It inconveniences some parents, but it’s only two weeks. Those dying or hospitalized from Covid are much more inconvenienced. I agree with your point that going forward most of those dying or...

With the city pushing its new downtown plan maybe they can offer some incentives for developments like this to help get them going?

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Sounds like you’re right! I thought I heard they were taking it away but must be remembering it wrong. I guess with the potential for developments like crosstown, and others along 25th Ave. it probably makes sense to keep it.

I get annoyed even seeing her name pop up. She seems to have gotten worse over the years.

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

I could be wrong, but I didn’t think there was a plan to rebuild Erlton. I thought the plan was to replace the two stations with one central one.

Both Victoria Park and Erlton stop are getting demolished and replaced with a single station where the construction is now.

I walked past this site yesterday, and was wondering what was up with it. With West 17 going ahead maybe this one will next?

Both Marcus and Village are great. IMO, Earl Grey ice cream at Village is the best of any flavours between the two places, but Marcus has a better selection. Village has the win when it comes to how quick the line moves. My two cents.

Usually they don't but I am guessing the tree has some sort of issues. There's something mentioned regarding its health, maybe it's in decline?

Averaging a little over a floor a week! This cold snap might slow things some, but it should be up around the halfway mark by the end of March.

I hope I'm right too. The warping is still obvious.

The cladding on the top strip looks bad, I but I don't think it's finished yet. I've seen before on other projects where the metal panels look oil canned right after they are installed but get fixed.

    Sunalta Heights | 88.39m | 27s | Housing One | S2

I'm excited to see development happening in that part of the core. all around the core in every direction there has been good solid development except for this area directly west of downtown.

    The Edgewater | 30.6m | 9s | Trico Homes | S2

It's too bad this one isn't going ahead anytime soon, it'd be a great addition to a CBD that could use more residential.
