Would they? I think CSEC wants all the perks of owning a building, with none of the responsiblities of actually owninig it. Look at Edmonton's current Forbes valuation, and then look at Calgary's. Ownership licking their chops at a similar situation with a new arena under their umbrella.

Few people I know who were looking into bidding on work said the bid process was convoluted and just a joke overall.

Give CSEC an inch and they're gonna take a mile. Especially when this thing eventually balloons to $1B.

We should all be up in arms about the request to get CMLC off the project. CMLC is there to ensure that our tax dollars are used properly to build something for all Calgarians, not just the Flames owners. That's a non-negotiable as far as I'm concerned. Super disappointing, but not surprising...

The land is worth more to the Stampede razed than with the Dome once the new event centre is built. Also, nothing is stopping the new event centre from hosting rodeo events.

Have we seen a final render of what this is going to look like? Everything in the newspapers and online is from a submission from a design firm that I don't think was selected. Am I wrong?
