Yeah @Surrealplaces, I wonder what will happen with the old Nexen building. The owners have a huge legal battle on their hands with the asbestos in the walls of that building. However, I could totally see the owners refurbishing it and making it once again a very appealing class A or AA office...
This is good because it will get all the class C buildings off the market and allow for the businesses downtown to thrive and promote more businesses to come set up shop.
Here's a photo of the sign for the New Calgary Court of Appeal Courthouse set to be built behind the old Court of Appeal building and across the street from the Calgary Courts Centre.
Judging by the fact that there is a huge hole and lots of construction activity where the third building is supposed to go, I presume that there will be a third one going up relatively soon.
Yeah, it was an odd thing to say considering the circumstances. We’ll see what transpires in the coming months. Interesting news about their vaccination requirement, it will likely start a trend in terms of other building projects in the area.
Yeah, I think Condos are more lucrative (at least in terms of initial sales) so as long as the market allows for it, they will take advantage! P.S: Glad to be part of the Forum!
I also want to mention that the worker stated it would be 3 weeks until they start digging and forming the foundation of The Oliver Tower 2. He also explained that they decided the second tower would be mad up of condo buildings because of what he described as Calgary’s “housing shortage.”
We were talking to one of the construction workers and he explained that domesticated bunnies lived on the site (mothers and babies) and they are feeding the bunnies and taking them home as pets! If anyone wants one they can ask the workers there and get a free bunny!
