    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Im just on board with getting it build and not on the street. Pretty basic. Elevated is perfectly fine, other cities manage to do it and it’s great. Calgary isn’t special, no need to reinvent the wheel or choose subway if it’s far too expensive. The most track for your dollar is what I support.

    Taza (Tsuut'ina Nation Development) | ?m | ?s | Canderel

Wonder how this being fully developed will effect the family naturist beach right near there in Weaselhead. Maybe make it more popular for people?

Exactly. That’s what I am being, rational and realistic. Not sure how elevated isn’t?

They are. Modern technology is a lot better than the L train in Chicago. People are just being negative for the sake of being negative because it’s the calgarian way.

The same, it just needs more development. Elevated lines don’t kill vibrancy. You know what does? Cars and traffic.

It would be pretty awesome to have elevated NGL. It can add some vibrancy to the street level.

It can easily be turned into an asset if they start building amenities. They won’t of course being Canada, they’d prefer parking lots and 4 lane streets for cars instead downtown.

I’ve been to Japan. Elevated rail is perfectly fine for urban areas. Calm down there Karen. Underground is dead and isn’t coming back. Time to ensure it’s elevated and not street level.

Their exaggerated nightmare, is my dream. I wish that’s what will happen.

    Glenmore Landing | 115m | 35s | RioCan | NORR

Agreed. With the dedicated BRT right there, this is a perfect location for this kind of density. Ignore the naysayers, they aren't saying anything other than No.

    61st Ave Residential | 64m | 19s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I think it is a decent enough design. It could be better of course, but getting more density in the area will be good. I think CF will have a better design for the residential towers that they will put in the parking lot right in front of Chinook Mall. That being said, I was in London recently...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Let’s hope these people are ignored and it goes full steam ahead.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I’m really not too concerned with street vibrancy. It isn’t a detractor at all in other cities I’ve been to and seen extensive usage in dense areas (Tokyo, Taipei etc). It’s still fine in Chicago too, albeit extremely dated so quite noisy.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I was trying to find the costs, but can’t seem to. I recall it being around 1/3 the cost of underground and was really quite surprised that that option was thrown out so quickly. It seemed that everyone just wanted to get a subway for Calgary.

Danhai light rail in Taipei is new and has elevated stations. So is the Yellow Line in Taipei, and through a densely developed area.

Eau Claire is getting redeveloped at some point. Those townhouses will definitely be demolished, it’s just a matter of when. I don’t think the alignment would change though? It’s just be elevated. It’ll only intersect with 7th Ave or maybe share for a block or two.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Well Calgary’s plan honestly turned into a joke. I’m entirely unsurprised that the province pulled funding. It truly was the definition of a train to nowhere. It serviced nobody, and I doubt it would get anywhere near the 30k ridership that the city was projecting. It makes more sense from a...

I don’t know why the elevated option was not preferred. It will clearly be much cheaper than underground, and Albertans are notoriously cheap. Plus it’ll be nice to get our own skytrain.

That sounds like Calgary City Council for you. They still haven’t learned.

Great pics! UD is really coming along. I imagine Quarry Park could resemble this sort of with future developments.
