Not that I agree with the "gentrification" sentiment, but people are clearly not pining for the big box Amaranth Foods or Sony Store with parking that used to be there. See what I quoted above from @lemongrab - it sounds like there are 6 or 7 grade crossings along the route.

I think because it can only serve Sunalta in one direction (eastbound, going toward downtown), unless it's rerouted to a much slower route along 10 Ave.

I really liked it. I don't remember any significant delays in the street-running section downtown, and the trip down into the valley and back out again was fast. Frequencies were good, too. It made me excited for the next phase to West Edmonton Mall.
