    Kit at Kensington | 50m | 15s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

A dogs breakfast of design trends, but the density is exactly right. I'll support it purely because the area will greatly benefit from having this built, and the NIMBY's will give it enough opposition. However, it doesn't excuse that this is really clumsy. There's nothing inherently wrong with...

Toronto is approving a new school in the podium of a condo tower, near Waterfront/Young St. and Redpath Sugar. https://urbantoronto.ca/forum/threads/toronto-sugar-wharf-condominiums-phase-2-299m-90s-menkes-a%E2%80%94a.27714/

I know someone in that building, it has probably the largest parkade to unit ratio I've ever seen, it's mind bogglingly expansive and constantly nearly empty. Which is to say that they surely built all the parking first, and have a capital investment to recoup, just a matter of when.

They do it implicitly through the cost of a new wardrobe 8 months after you move in.

    Calgary craft beer scene

I enjoy all of the places mentioned above, but special shoutout to Paddy's, the wings are always my saving grace on a barley belt brew hop. The Summer in Saskatoon is the best beer at Cold Garden IMO.

526 - 4th Ave, and 4th Street Lofts (Above Red's Diner) will both probably enter DD and CD this year, so hopefully construction will start by the end of the calendar year.

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I seriously think it'd be really cool for the arena to have a retractable portion. Obviously have it mostly closed, but say there's a chinook on game day in January, open up the roof and have a semi-outdoor game. It'd play to Calgary's strengths and make it the most unique arena in the league...

    Konekt | 12m | 4s | Streetside

I don't mind this. It respectfully transitions the area away from just single family housing, and it's well off a main street anyway. If Inglewood had all their parking lots on 9th filled in I might look at it differently - until then, this is great.

    General Construction Updates

I know it's incremental, but I'm really happy to see some density going into a suburban area. If even half of our burbs looked like that, our housing affordability, sprawl, and vibrancy would be astoundingly better.

In addition to that parcel, the two corners of 2nd St W and 10th Ave would be awesome, but 10th Ave is such low hanging fruit for public urban design. In order from north to south side, I'd propose: Street trees on the north sidewalk Protected 2-way bike lanes 2-way, 2-lane vehicle traffic, no...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

The Event Centre will take about 4 years to construct. Even everyone waited until excavation of the arena actually started before they even purchased the land, they'd still finish anything they want before the arena. Not much will go ahead until the arena meaningfully starts construction -...

    PLATFORM | 21m | 6s | CMLC | Kasian

I would have sooner described it as dystopian, but I guess apocalyptic works too. (I don't hate it, but the reality of a giant parking garage in the middle of a sea of surface parking lots is expensive and silly)

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

The thing the City of Calgary doesn't seem to understand is that not every road solely has the purpose of moving a high volume of personal vehicles through it. Sure that might be true with an arterial, like Deerfoot by the airport, but that is certainly not true for streets that run through the...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I like it. But I also think the red line should have just stayed underground the entire distance between 42nd and the Central Library. Combining that with Macleod complete street from 25th to the Bow would be pretty awesome. One thing I can't figure out is why the CP Line through downtown...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Toronto is working on it, with the recent CIBC Square, and proposals like Union Park and Rail Deck Park/ORCA. There's a couple specific problems. One is that their corridor is pretty wide, meaning they require vertical supports to reduce spans, and that those columns have to withstand a...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I'd put all my money on the fact that development is waiting for the Eau Claire green line station to be integrated, I'm surprised the plaza redevelopment even started.
