I really like the upper patio, but that stairwell... :(

I like this one. It'll be great to see that empty lot filled in, and as surrealplaces said, the street portion, which is the most important for me, looks good.

    General Construction Updates

I'm still getting used to Calgary's streets being numbered, either that or you go out to a new subdivision and all the street names are almost exactly the same except for the odd letter changed here and there. The numbered street names are practical for getting around, but are utterly boring.

Any idea what the changes were for? Maybe they’re changing it from a bank to a restopub? 😁

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

For sure, I get where you’re coming from. Not being originally from Alberta, and not being here that long I haven’t had a chance to get to know all the differences between the two cities. I lived in Texas for two years and when I moved to Calgary I sometimes heard people say Calgary was similar...

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

Quite a gap between Calgary and Edmonton. I would have predicted probably closer to 300K difference. Toronto no surprise, it'll be keep exploding., bit I'm not sure Vancouver will be at 4.0M in 20 years. They had huge numbers due to the backlog of immigration, but I would expect to see Vancouver...

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

I with your post agree for the most part. The only thing I would disagree with is the comparison of Calgary to Houston or Edmonton to Austin. From my experience neither city is comparable to either Austin or Houston. As someone who grew up in Toronto and southern Ontario, I see Calgary and...

    Weather and Gardening Discussion

Major downpourage yesterday. A coworker of mine left his car parked with his convertible top open and didn’t realize storm had hit until it was too late!

Even though I was never a fan of the Reform party it shouldn’t matter that he was a contributor. It’s a non-factor. I don’t know what the Alliance for Preservation of English is about, but every language has an alliance for the protection of a given language. Why they would need one for English...

Is Calgary still an oil and gas town or has it moved on?

Most of this Alberta vs Toronto stuff is media created and perception based. The average Torontonian is ambivalent about Alberta, if you asked them pointedly about Alberta politics, they would have a negative view, but outside of that, they are either ambivalent, or they like it. The people from...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I drove past that ^ this evening and it was packed full of people. I wasn't sure what it was, thanks for posting.

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

Calgary and Edmonton will continue their growth pattern for the next decade with Edmonton staying close in growth, but Calgary gaining somewhere between 3-10K extra per year. In a decade Calgary will be approximately 150,000 more than Edmonton unless Calgary adds the whole Foothills MD, then it...

    Calgary's Homeless

This isn't Calgary related, but sort of related to some of the issues we are seeing. Downtowns of other North American cities are experiencing the same issues, and like Calgary, the issues have ramped up noticeably since covid. This article is from SF...

That's the thing, even if they aren't starchitecture pieces, the variety is nice. Maybe some brick gets used again. Nothing fancy, but something simple like this tower u/c in Toronto. tbh kind of boring, but at least it's different. Or this one also from Toronto, It's using average materials...

    General Construction Updates

Paint it warm white and it's a pretty nice bridge. The rusted metal makes it look like a typical highway overpass.
