    Kit at Kensington | 50m | 15s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

I have been wondering the same thing. I am not aware of any plans whatsoever, but I agree the site would be ripe for redevelopment. It always seems busy so I am wondering if it's a victim of its own success (ie no perceived need to update the store), and once Kit and the other residential...

    Stampede Station | 277.3m | 71s | Truman | NORR

Certainly doesn't qualify as "high end" but more urban format retail in Beltline would be nice...would love a Costco.

    Nest | 40.23m | 15s | Cairo Development | Casola Koppe

I believe so, but not sure which of those are being offered in this case. Pretty sure they need to do one or more of those in order to be allowed the zero parking.

    Calgary Municipal Politics

Rezoning for housing is a bit of an "X factor" that could influence the race in Ward 7. Anecdotally, some of my older friends in the area (who typically lean progressive) are pissed about it, and want Gondek (and the other pro-rezoning people) gone. Some of those people might support Wong even...

    Calgary Municipal Politics

That would be Heather McRae, whose husband is Stephen Carter is running the overall Calgary party campaign I believe. I'm in W7 too and there are a few others who are campaigning but haven't registered yet. Myke Atkinson and Dave Barrett both have a fair amount of signs around.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Unfortunately, nothing at this time on the Chinook site itself. I wonder if CF are waiting to see how things shake out with The Bay before contemplating any redevelopment plans? I'd love to see some redevelopment happen with some residential towers on site and hopefully replacing all the...

    Calgary Municipal Politics

So has anyone seen any opinion polling? I haven't seen anything as of yet as far as preferred Mayor goes, and we're less than 2 months out. We get spoiled at Federal election time with multiple polls every day.

    Nolan Hill Rise | 52m | 16s | Cidex Group | NORR

First highrise outside the ring road, I believe!

    Kings by LaCaille | 113m | 35s | LaCaille Group | S2

Getting close to grade level...other than Lincoln, this is the closest thing we have to a skyscraper u/c right now...

    Yellowstone | 67.36m | 20s | Amble Ventures | NORR

Yellowstone is going so slow. They've fallen behind Francesco's in construction progress even after having started construction much sooner.

    BTYYC | 24m | 6s | Eagle Crest | Davignon Martin

I like this one - one of the more creative 6-storey builds we have seen...

    Statscan numbers

But so is Ottawa based on these numbers. Incredible that considering how far fast growing communities like Kanata, Barrhaven and Orleans are from central Ottawa, the vast bulk of their construction is apartments.

    Statscan numbers

Starts will almost certainly cool off going forward, in part because the level of starts was so incredibly high. The real question, is how much they will cool off by. What I also find interesting is that Calgary and Edmonton are the only ones out of the 6 big metros that seem to have much in...

    Eau Claire Place II | 68m | 17s | Pacific Reach

Some of the white and blue painting starting on the other facades...sorry for the lousy pic quality

    421 17 AVE | 17.5m | 5s | Arcadis

As a resident of the neighbourhood, I much prefer this over the grey and white stucco boxes that are going up all over Mt Pleasant and Cap Hill. A lot more of this, please!

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

that is amazing! Also there are a lot of other buildings - especially the highrises in the West End - that were built in the late '90s and early 2000s. A couple minor additions - Chocolate was finished in 2006, and Sasso and Vetro were finished in 2006 and 2008. And don't forget the BMO...

I'm a bit disappointed that there won't be a construction start this year.

I absolutely love that idea from Victoria! I think whatever does happen to the Bay building, it will need to have a variety of uses/tenants, and residential over retail would fit the bill nicely.

    The Sentinel | 24m | 6s | Arlington Street | Jackson McCormick

I wish I could be excited about this project but all I see it as is a missed opportunity. We lose some cool, smaller character retail buildings and all we get in return is a bland multi building that looks like it belongs in Skyview Ranch. We're not even getting rid of a parking lot FFS.
