I am wondering, would having the station at Eau Claire above ground rather than transitioning from a tunnel to a bridge so abruptly reduce the cost of the bridge structure across the river? I assume it would make for a less challenging structure from an engineering perspective?

Yeah loads of that in the GTA these days. That 84 storey building in Mississauga is just overkill. I'd rather see the really tall stuff in the downtown area where it belongs.

3 years to build a pair of 60-70 storey towers is a really tight timeline, and i imagine their agreements with Marriott probably have timeline commitments that would need to be met. I could see shoring and excavation starting next summer with actual concrete construction commencing in January...

Don't forget the ~10 storey building on the SE corner of the TransAlta/Beltline Block site! Each of these will be home to at least 100 (probably many more) people, which should really help with downtown vibrancy.

It's just a Land Use application so even if they get 12, they might only go 6 to save money with wood frame. I do think the 6 storey development that went up a few years ago is perfect height and scale for south side of the park.
