    Stampede Hotel | 57.5m | 14s | Truman | NORR

That side of the BMO centre has dark grey cladding. Adding another black hotel next door, doesn't feel like an inviting entrance to Stampede grounds.

They have an RFP out right now for terminal redevelopment. Probably related to the Terminal B renovations. https://www.merx.com/solicitations/open-bids/Terminal-Redevelopment-Concessions-Planning-and-Advisory/0000302623?origin=2

    Calgary Municipal Politics

Surveys for council candidates on rezoning. The group itself filed an appeal against rezoning, but the answers were from all sides. https://calgariansforthoughtfulgrowth.com/ For Ward 7, I think I'll go with Atkinson. McRae and the stuff around her and her husband I'd rather not have in city...

New convenience store coming in the Bridgeland station. Also mentions a cafe coming to Westbrook, that one seems to be at street level. https://newsroom.calgary.ca/coming-soon--storefront-at-bridgeland-station/ https://www.calgary.ca/realestate/detailstab.html?name=item_1975017940

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Condo prices have fallen a lot in the GTA/GVA that the delta between condo prices in Calgary is pretty small at this point. If someone was to move here inter-provincially, it's unlikely they'd make the move to save 50-100k on a condo, but more likely looking to save the $1M+ on a single family home.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

A lot of major cities have multiple links to the airport. Hong Kong has the bus service which most locals take, and the express train that mostly tourist and business people take. Seoul has the Express and Local service on the AREX. Even Toronto has the UP that goes to Union (and also stop on...

Not just the train, but thermal expansion? Working engineering in Alberta and not accounting for thermal expansion?

Westjet is finally retrofitting all their Swoop/Lynx/Sunwing planes with a new configuration that essentially has Swoop at the back, standard Westjet in the middle, a big Extended Comfort Section and the same size Premium at the front...

    University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

Seems like it. But the University seems to be reserving the space for that in the future. Does the University even want to own McMahon? A more comprehensive plan with the Fieldhouse and McMahon would be possible if the city owned the whole thing.

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

Is the demolition of the Dome part of the initial budget? Or are we getting an Edmonton situation where the old arena crumbles and becomes an eyesore?

You probably took it around rush hour. Many people commuting to the Weston area takes the train because it doesn't cost much more than GO and is much faster.

The 4 Nations was hosted in Boston and Montreal because of distance and they wanted minimal disruption to the NHL schedule, hence the extremely short tournament. It's much harder to host events in those big cities because Toronto has 1 arena, which has to host the Raptors, Leafs, concerts, and...

Immigrants are not the source of most crime because they are a small portion of the population. But people have lower tolerance for criminal migrants because they are not "supposed" to be here. By adding people, undeniably there will be addition of crimes. And when the people being added are low...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

To make money, it was initially meant to cost $25 per person, which isn't that different from some other airport direct services like HKG, but I think there wasn't enough business travellers in Toronto so they had to reduce the rate.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

That's important for long distance travel. UP Express was designed to be a business travel option, which ended up significantly underperforming ridership projections and is losing lots of money every year. If it is just a connector from Blue line to the airport, something like an airport people...

    US Politics

The biggest change has been around crime and immigration. On crime, a large part of it is just the prevalence of social media. Previous incidents you'd hear described by the police or the news anchor, we can now see videos of. On immigration, the shift in sentiment is pretty rational. Even in...

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

Too bad they're getting the World Juniors just before Scotia Place finishes. It'll be a nice send off for the Saddledome though. "one of 25 venues". There's 32 teams and some have old arenas, but isn't this basically all viable arenas are being considered?

Some pictures from yesterday. The area by Deville in the arrivals area is blocked off, wondering if it’s new retail? And the terminal B work, everything is covered up except the gates at the end.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Incentives not being aligned. property values primarily fund municipal budgets (portion goes to provincial education), while savings from construction reduces provincial expenditures. A better comparison would be a functioning N-S Green Line, would that reduce car volumes on Deerfoot so we don't...
