I think I actually like the new design more. The original was unique and would have also been great, but really looked like a 60s/70s design. Would have been worried after a few years of aging, the building would actually look like it was built in 60s/70s.

Yes I can confirm piles are being driven on the south end of Truman's lot atm.

There's a pile driver and other equipment in on Truman's massive lot in Springback, and all fenced off. But I highly suspect this is just being used as a laydown yard for Vesta's 1 building u/c. There's no way Truman going to start on this one now they need to lay off the construction steroids.

Then make it a ten-foot wall down 4th ave at ground level, no CRUs no townhomes. Add human sized pigeon spikes down the entire wall. I'll see myself out...

Unpopular opinion: remove the CRU's (they will be vacant for years and years) and just add townhomes BUT somehow salvage the trees lining 4th Ave. They would be a great buffer for the residents facing a car sewer.

If all you're looking for is something pretty to look at, then sure. I don't know about the quality of the Toronto buildings but yah, they cut a loooooot of corners at 6th and Ten. I also remember seeing articles of very upset buyers in his Ottawa development as well.

High quality?! I don't know about that.. 6th and Tenth looks good from afar, but the building is a mess. Also note that the entire north elevation of 6th and Tenth was supposed to be grey brick.

The crazy winds yesterday made me wonder when the heck is the City going to sweep the streets?? Beltline was a huge dust bowl, walking on foot is not pleasant at all.

My guess is that it was always going to switch to the new design which is clearly VE'd. It has more similar architectural components to the rest of the buildings which probably has some cost savings. Throw in a fancy render to try to win the crowd. Once height is approved, VE it. Height didn't...
