    The Hat Eau Claire | 28m | 7s | Cidex Group

Media people check into these forums regularly to at least be in the loop on developments around the city, and usually the info arrives later on in a newspaper article.

    11th Street Underpass | ?m | ?s | City of Calgary

Agreed, for one thing the park will never ever get used. It’s absolutely the least desirable place to put a park in my opinion. You couldn’t find a worse place to put one. That and closing 11th to vehicle traffic is also stupid.

    First & Park | 75m | 18s | Graywood

The accents make a big difference to the building. I went from not sure if I liked it to liking it once the accents were added.

Anyone planning to travel to the US: Yay or Nay?

Fair enough. If people are going to visit family or it’s some sort of event that they don’t have in Canada, etc. I get it. I should’ve rephrased this question to ‘Are there any people planning to travel to the US simply for vacation?’ If anyone’s going down to the US solely for vacation...

Anyone planning to travel to the US: Yay or Nay?

I voted no, the easiest voting decision ever. I wouldn’t spend a plum nickel going to the US. I’m also curious why four people voted yes, and what their reasoning would be? Other than being Trumpers.

    Heritage Station Towers | 79m | 27s | Westcorp | GEC

The towers are boring as hell, but practical as hell. Given the roads they face onto and the area they’re in I wouldn’t spend a lot in making them look nice either. The run here is a few hundred units within TOD distance of Heritage station.

    Bluestone | 78m | 18s | Amble Ventures | NORR

I don’t mind it. I’m good with the bright white and the blue accents.

    Calgary Flames Official Thread

So after the Flames lost to Utah and Nashville I felt comfortable thinking the tank was finally underway and then they win in Anaheim a traditional graveyard for the Flames. So frustrating 😐
  9. Chinook Arch

    First & Park | 75m | 18s | Graywood

It’ll be interesting to see if it sells. One thing it has in its favour is the location.

    Kit at Kensington | 50m | 15s | Jemm Properties | LOLA

Was at the Safeway earlier today and noticed they are going gangbusters. They’re drilling even though they aren’t completely done with the demolition.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

I have this bad feeling we’ll be stuck doing whatever the province wants. The UCP knows the deadline for the feds funding is March and they’re dragging this out so the city will have no choice but to do what the province wants. At the end of the day the UCP has all the power. At least until...

That’s so true man! (Stole that from @haltcatchfire 😊)

    61st Ave Residential | 64m | 19s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

Comparing the empty lots around Chinook to Brentwood station in Burnaby isn’t really an apples to apples comparison. The situation here in Calgary is different than Metro Vancouver. Land is much more expensive in Vancouver/Burnaby, and the layout of their neighbourhoods and zoning in cities like...

    61st Ave Residential | 64m | 19s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

I don’t disagree that as a city or as a community we still need to push for better designs, but there’s a point where you have to be realistic. Those lots have been wastelands for over 50 years, so for me any development is a positive. I’d rather see this get built, than have it sit as a...

    61st Ave Residential | 64m | 19s | Cadillac Fairview | Zeidler

It would take a lot more than a few tweaks to turn the area into a Griffintown or even lead it in that direction. You’d need a cohesive plan with one entity controlling the development like U/D, EV, West District etc.. It would be great if it was nicer, but we’re not in a position to be choosy.

    General Construction Updates

Nothing in place to replace it yet. IIRC Harvard sold the land back to the city, and until there is a solid plan for the green line it might sit for a while.

    Village Block | 27m | 6s | Liberty Housing | Metafor

Even 25 of these would make a noticeable difference if placed in strategic areas.

    Hanover Building Conversion | 98m | 26s | Cairo Development | NORR

Yeah, there's been activity for a while. I had no idea it was a residential conversion.
