There is actually retail on both ends. This might come as a shock but the other end is a CIBC bank...

I've always thought that the office building in Mt.Plesant could use something like this. And some retail facing 4th Street. Such a huge parking lot for what is essentially a few law offices and remax. 2322 4 St NW https://maps.app.goo.gl/yMxX6NSH8oVbHuoZA

Interesting. Though I highly doubt it would be CNRL, Suncor seems more likely to me. Building a new fancy building is very much counter to CNRL's mantra of low cost operator.

The one thing that gives me pause to praise all retail at grade is what they will be charging for rent. There is no chance that the Thai place will be able to afford what will inevitably be charged. My greatest fear is that we get what happened at EAP: A fancy clothes store that really can't...

Whoever has the second floor south facing unit has light shining right into their bedroom. Definite Kenny Rogers Chicken vibes

There were a few workers on site this morning in the pit area by the alley. Great to see stalled projects starting up again.

Strange, are they really keeping the old KFC sign? I'm on team "remove more sidewalk poles"

When I think about my time as a student there I'd say primarily any movement was east/west. I think that's where walkability really struggles at the UofC. Science theater to Res has a lot of odd barriers. Further to that point I think it's critical to create additional primary connections to...

The former Mongolie Grill building across the street from Park Central has been fenced off. Wasn't there a Genco proposal there years ago?

There are two smaller drills and a bunch of equipment on site. Sorry, no pictures as I was driving by

Couldn't agree more. The retail bay on the west end of EAP stayed vacant for about 6 years before becoming an ATB branch.

Why is the church boarded up? Is it not part of the development? Strange to me that you would put it in the render like that.

That would make 3 liquor stores on 4th south of 17th Ave with Bin 905 being only 2 blocks away.

I hate that they put another one of their giant rental signs on the corner. Their sign on the 5th Street one is right in the middle of the sidewalk. You'd think there would be a better way...

Enmax is doing utility work in the alley to facilitate construction on tower 2. Lines will be buried for half the alley.

I wonder who is going to fill the funding hole when Repsol no longer is paying its naming rights. I believe Repsol's agreement takes it to 2022 and there is 0% chance that they renew.

I refuse to believe that those white panels are intentional. There is no pattern to it, random full piece of spandrel here, random triangular there. It makes no sense. Whether or not they get around to replacing them is another story, but there are still key pieces missing on the lobby level...

That's good to see for dog owners in the area. Laughably this is the other designated off leash area close by Calgary, Alberta https://maps.app.goo.gl/thTihNTLdZXmAAof6 Sandwiched between 14th Street and Bow Trail. Not exactly a safe place to have a dog running around.

I lived in the Castello building when the plans were drawn up for this development and I remember people were pretty unhappy about it. I can understand the loss of downtown view, but the alley treatment and retail makes this a real positive for the block and property values.
