    627 Heritage Dr SW | 23m | 6s | Good Form | Metafor

We should build whatever makes sense to build. Can't artificially limit building height near transit stations based on vibes.

    627 Heritage Dr SW | 23m | 6s | Good Form | Metafor

To be clear the building itself is fine. Actually pretty good in the context of Calgary design. I was just mad about the parking lot but I guess it's unavoidable. It could be taller but you're right if the east sees more intense development then this is fine

    627 Heritage Dr SW | 23m | 6s | Good Form | Metafor

... We're seriously doing a 6 storey apartment with a surface parking lot right next to an LRT station? What a joke

    Marc and Mada | 62m | 19s | Truman | NORR

Exactly. You can’t demand the developer spend more money on public realm stuff while also telling them “oh and by the way it’s too tall because, uh, just cause we said so.”

    General Construction Updates

I feel like "Nimbyism" (if you could call it that at this point) can be somewhat justified when it's coming from the perspective of wanting the best outcome for everyone including yourself, your neighbourhood, and future residents. I would feel more sympathetic to Nimbys if they advocated for...

    4th Street Lofts | 97m | 29s | Western Securities | Gibbs Gage

If there isn't a random rectangle somewhere the architect goes to jail. Thems the rules here in cowtown

    General Construction Updates

Nah this is awful all around. There's enough to complain about here that doing so doesn't make you a nimby.

    Contemporary Calgary | 20m | 4s | Contemporary Calgary | KPMB

Yeah kind of frustrating that it seems to be turning its back to the river. Doesn't bode well for the potential for 6th Ave to be reduced (or eliminated entirely). That design even shows a berm totally blocking the site from the street, which makes sense given its current condition but struggles...

    Heritage Plaza | 91m | 26s | Arcadis

Absolutely no question Macleod needs a complete redesign. It's beyond saving in its current form. Nothing short of a total reconstruction could fix it, and it's primarily because of all the driveways you mentioned.

    West District | ?m | ?s | Truman

I mean, I know that someone wanted to redevelop it a while ago and then gave up cause the city didn't want to help them. Idk if anything has changed since then.

    There's a public parking garage

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I would like to produce a preliminary design of this at some point, but I think it would be awesome if they retained as much of the original building as possible. Obviously they probably have to tear down the roof, but they could keep the main structure and replace the roof with a membrane...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Currently salivating at the thought of a 70 storey tower clad in the same granite 😍

    Trinity Hills | 20m | 6s | Trinity Group

Exactly. Calgary will never (or at least, not any time soon) be the Netherlands, but that's fine. Point is not only is Calgary currently a "driving city" but we're actively making decisions to exacerbate that problem when we don't have to. Of course suburbs in the middle of nowhere will be car...

    Trinity Hills | 20m | 6s | Trinity Group

Really hard to get excited about any kind of development like this when it’s all completely car oriented. Yeah, sure, we’re building lots of housing, but it’s all as far away from transit as physically possible and seems built to cater exclusively to a lifestyle where you drive down the street...

    Beltline Block | 118m | 36s | ONE Properties | Gibbs Gage

DMap only seems to have the office conversion unfortunately. I think we have to yet to see a full block rendering (at completion) or a site plan?

    Beltline Block | 118m | 36s | ONE Properties | Gibbs Gage

I actually think both office buildings on the site are nice, but the one that's getting converted is really nice. Very glad it's being kept.

    The Loft | 44m | 11s | Institutional Mortgage Capital

This building is adorable I'm so happy it's getting converted

    Riverside Village | 86m | 27s | CNIB | S2

At least it's not aggressively ugly, but definitely a missed opportunity with such a prominent site, as others have pointed out. Extremely mid.
