    Statscan numbers

August housing starts are out. Overall slower numbers across Canada continuing. Looks like the pattern we saw through much of 2024, with Toronto and Vancouver tops, with Calgary third, Edmonton solid. Ottawa/Gatineau very low, which has been the case for much of the past two years. It'll be...

    Calgary International Airport

That sounds about right. As of 2021 census, Calgary had 69,000 Fillipinos, and Winnipeg and Edmonton 62,000 each. With those three cities basically in Westjet's sphere, it would be a great flight for WS. Too bad they didn't have some A350's to handle that distance. Definitely agree about China...

    Calgary Transit

I don't know about this particular turning lane, but in other cases where the lane is separated sometimes a bus sitting at the front of the lane will hold up other buses. Not sure if that applies here or not.

Really like it. The narrow profile is giving me Tokyo vibes :)

That's always the case when people have a good thing going, they don't want it changed. I don't live there so I'm ambivalent about it, but I'm not surprised that they aren't happy.

For me the parking stall ratio is dependent on the type of street parking. If there is permit parking on the street or it's a paid parking zone then the number of stalls don't matter. Those without a parking spot but owning a car will need to find parking somewhere where they won't get ticketed...

    Calgary & Alberta Economy

https://livewirecalgary.com/2025/09/12/calgary-tech-talent-grows-to-7-9-per-cent-of-economy/ As usual with these reports you usually have to dig through all the data to get to the bottom of things, but either way, it's good news for Calgary. Here are the Canadian cities the rankings of the top...

    US Politics

That's what I was getting at. There have been cases on both sides, but the revenge type threats coming from the right side are what worry me. We didn't see that from the left side on the attacks against democrats. It concerns me there could be some actual revenge attacks...at least judging by...

    Calgary Municipal Politics

I'm not sure I would call this stuff mudslinging. Maybe just my opinion, but to me mudslinging is where it get's personal. These are just regular political questioning of a politician's actions. They're fairly minor actions, but nonetheless something that's fair game.

It's actually turning out better than I was expecting from the renderings. It's not a crown jewel, but for its location it'll do.

    US Politics

There have a been a lot of political motivated incidents recently. On top of the Kirk incident and the incident in Minnesota, there was an incident with someone trying to burn down the house of Josh Shapiro, the governor of Pennsylvania, There was some incident with Nancy Pelosi's family...
