Japan is wonderful in the winter. I highly recommend, even if you don't include a ski portion.

    The Great Canadian Tariff Thread

WTI ten minutes ago was $60.81. WCS 13 hours ago was $49.64. Settling to its regular, but still good range. The marginal pipeline is TMX, which has higher tolls. The marginal barrel on TMX also is going into a tanker, where you have that cost too, but then it is priced near Maya so it offsets a...

An important article: https://archive.ph/2025.04.04-230714/https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2025-04-04/canada-minister-wants-lng-canada-doubled-eyes-western-pipeline-upgrade Some quotes:

Yeah. Based on prices this morning, provincial revenue could be $4.5 billion below expectations. It is only 4 days into the fiscal year though.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

It really depends. Admin was really pushed by council to make communities look better, and the business cases were torqued to the point that Admin went from recommended no communities to recommending 12 or 14 iirc. I don't think this is a bad thing though. TBH besides the beltline I doubt any...

Some communities, never. Unfortunately, fire service is so expensive, that if the community road layout/connectivity with neighbours is poor, the community likely never recovers from the original year over year accumulate deficit from initial fire service.

You have to track it from well head to delivery point. Plus the origin of diluent, even if the diluent has been reused many times, you might not even know where it comes from. So if your 500,000 barrel delivery came from 20 different oil companies, you need 20 different paper trails.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Since Grand Central was for the New York Central Railroad, we should think of what name the Banff-Downtown-YYC-Red Deer-YEG-Edmonton system might have. Banff Central might confuse people, but no more than Grand Central. Bow Central would be worse. Pacific Central is already used in Vancouver...

    2025 Federal Election

There is that Butts and Guilbeault helped buy and complete a pipeline, approved Keystone XL, Line 3 replacement, and other Enbridge Main Line debottlenecking, help create the tax and tariff incentives needed for LNG Canada, and that Guilbeault was around the cabinet table when the Coastal Gas...

    2025 Federal Election

I do think the split comes down to: do you believe the threats of annexation are real or not? If you're in the parrallel universe that doesn't think it is real, it is really hard to appeal to or uinderstand the motivations of people who think it is real. A good portion of the electorate, for...

    2025 Federal Election

Many domestic policies when international events threaten a -3% economic shock and an even larger recession looms feels out of touch. He needs to relate it back to crisis management and and something that focus groups well isn’t connecting. I’d take it back to 2009 and Harper. The renovation...

    2025 Federal Election

Meeting the moment in a campaign is hard. Conservatives got very used to 80% of announcements being in the can at the start of the campaign. Having the resources in place to be able to pivot, and trusting yourself enough that you don't need to focus group, poll, AB test, etc, is really hard...

    2025 Federal Election

Quebec can swing hard, but if opinion crystallizes that someone is the best option, people in general are very forgiving. Apologize and move on, people are generally fine with that. Carney's appeal is that he isn't a politician, so that he isn't smooth or perfect to a point like you would expect...
