I don’t think it’s likely to fail if the city is giving trees to people to plant on their property. People taking the time to register for a tree and go pick it up will take the time to water it. Some would die due to weather or disease but most would live. The city planting them in public...

What’s the alternative then? High rise towers everywhere? High rises towers here and there are great, but a city of nothing but high rise towers is a city I wouldn’t want to live in.

I would like that too, but then who pays for the extra cost? The costs in China are much different than in Canada. For one thing we don’t have pay wages slightly above slave labour.

Not any different then other sports or the music acts putting on the concerts who make millions. If a mid sized city like Calgary wants pro sports and concerts we have to play along.

Yeah it’s more than just the drop in centre. The area around the drop in centre the worst location, but the problem is all over the core in different spots, and like you mention problem can even be in the burbs if near an LRT station. If anyone can find an east way to get people off drugs...

I like the arched pillar, but they don’t really go with the buildings general design. From a street view standpoint I think they’re great. They have a funky retro look.

The Rise and Crown had gone downhill over recent years. At least that’s my impression. Hopefully another owner or ownership group with better mgmt like Concorde, Jamieson etc will take it over and reinvent it.

Given the way this project had gone from the beginning it’s quite possible. It would be nice to see this get built, at the same time I feel bad for the investors. They could’ve invested into a number of other projects that have long been built already.

With a mid rise (10-14) floors where Popeyes is.

Kind of sucks, but realistically it wasn’t likely to get built as shown.

Unfortunately it won’t be completed, there would still be another block to be developed.
