    Catalyst | 22.86m | 6s | Centron | NORR

A couple of years ago if somebody told me there were wall systems that could be prefabbed and brought over to site, I would’ve thought these six story wood frames to go up quickly, but they’re slower than concrete builds. I’m assuming they don’t have enough people on site to compete with time...

    Let’s make it 200. 😁

    Trinity Hills | 20m | 6s | Trinity Group

True, but Valley Ridge only has 1900 dwellings, and very little retail. If Trinity is to be 4000 dwellings as anticipated, but very little retail probably would be different but I think with all that retail and all those residents it’s going to be a gong show. It will look cool from the highway...

    Calgary Restaurant Thread

Went to Calcutta Cricket Club the other day and found it to be so-so. The atmosphere was good, much more vibrant than the usual Indian restaurant, but the prices were high and the food was average. If you’re looking to grab some Indian solely for the food, try just about anywhere else.

    Nimmons Court | 32m | 6s | Brava Developments | Casola Koppe

Overall the project is a win IMO. Some things could’ve been done better but it’s a perfect scale it a good use of a heritage home.

That’s a lot of units for an auto centric area with only two ingress/egress points.

    Taxation and Density in Calgary

I don't think people here are ignoring the poverty issue, it's more of a discussion about which areas have better tax efficiency. Right now it's the middle aged subdivision in between inner city and the more recent suburbs. Those neighborhoofd aren't exactly poverty stricken neighborhoods. If...

    University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

I was at University District on the weekend, and I gotta say, it's coming along swimmingly. Once Forge/Argyle/Block 15 are completed, that place is gonna be a great little neighborhood.

Is it possible the driller that was there a year ago finished the piles and now they are excavating?

    Aria Encore | 56m | 17s | Gracorp | Zeidler

Downtown/Beltline/EV is great for highrises, but I like the scale of U/D. That would be my preferences for most places in Calgary.

    Oliver | 121.3m | 35s | Centron | Gibbs Gage

The next couple of weeks forecast is mild, we should see some good progress. By the end of January we’ll see the tower riding at a floor per week roughly.

University Innovation Quarter | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

If the city really is serious about increasing density, controlling sprawl and leveraging transit they have to pull the plug on these parking stalls. Maybe not all of them, but at least 2/3rds, convert the remaining ones to pay parking and develop the rest. They could easily do this with all of...

    Calgary International Airport

Over that time period WS also started pouring it on in Calgary and increasing it's presence as a hub, drawing connecting traffic from Edmonton. AC has been retreating from YYC but has also been retreating from Edmonton. I agree about the long-term for Edmonton, it will most likely, become more...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Western Securities bought a parcel of land off of 1st Street SW kitty corner to the Underwood. That's probably the 5th tower, even tho there's no design, it's expected to be a highrise.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I’m re-posting a photo that SP posted in the photo section. Although Calgary needs to develop more of its parking lots, looking at this old picture makes me feel like we’ve come a long way, and makes me feel hopeful.

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Here’s a question I’m throwing out there. Would you rather see the money go to the green line or to putting the blue and red lines underground? I don’t know what the cost is to bury the blue and red lines but I’m guessing it would be less expensive than the green line.

    Urban Multi-Family Construction Count Tracker

    If I were to bet, I would put money on either Sunalta Tower 2, 1216 - 8th, 526 - 4th or 1405 - 4th street. Also, Sovereign is a decent possibility.
