    Cars, Pedestrians, Cyclists and Transit

I think the title of the thread is based more on nature of the conversation before the posts were moved to this thread. Lol

I hope it doesn’t sit an empty lot for too long.

    Did we actually do that?

    Parkline | 60m | 16s | Minto | Zeidler

I think it’s a fair comment. The unfortunate design of 26th 33rd Richmond Road and Crowchild gives the area poor access. An off ramp on southbound Crowchild into the development and an offramp lane coming out as a development on southbound Crowchild might make a big difference, and having 25th...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Agreed, but is the BMO centre where the focus should be? We are doing that by building up the rivers, pathways and parks. Projects like refreshing Stephen Ave Mall, or the latest plan to upgrade the river section near Louise bridge or smaller projects like Humpty Hollow Park are the kinds of...

    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

Outside of Vancouver’s frontage being on the harbour, there’s nothing particularly better about it and it’s no less sterile than any other convention center I’ve been to. As far as retail goes, convention centres are exactly what they are, convention centers. Expectations the building will be...

    Green Line LRT | ?m | ?s | Calgary Transit

Personally, I’d rather we spent the money now and did the tunnel under 9th ave, even if it meant, roughing in a station and finishing the station later. My concern is the same as the others, I can’t imagine the cost and hassle of trying to do it 20 years from now when we can spend the...

    Francesco's | 48m | 16s | Arlington Street | DAAS

I don’t love the design, but I’m happy with it. For me it checks 3 boxes, one it adds density to the area and two, it interacts well with 17th. Three, the high portion of it is on the south side so as to not shadow 17th. Those are all I really care about.

    Alberta Pension Plan

I’ve talked to several people about this and everyone has a different opinion. Some people don’t have a clue, and it’s obvious from their opinions, but I’m curious what people think about this?

    Trees in Calgary

I don’t know the name if the shrub, but I like red. We don’t see enough if that in Calgary. Post it in Reddit, someone will know.

For sure, but I expect that after more if this goes up in the area, it’ll increase as a dense power node and the momentum will bring some bigger projects.

Same with 9th street in Bridgeland. There have been some sweet successes for Calgary in the past decade.

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

My crystal ball readings. I see Toronto hitting 10M buy 2044 did to the metro borders expanding and hauling another million or two. Toronto 10.0M Montreal 5.0M Vancouver 3.8M Calgary 2.7M Edmonton 2.3M Ottawa 2.0M

It varies for both condos and purpose built rentals. High rise condos (Park Point, The Royal, Waterfront, etc. have as high of higher level of material as high rise purpose built rental. The low rise builds of condos seem to have higher end materials than the purpose built rentals. I’m...

Who will be Alberta's largest metro in a decade?

Back in the 90s the mayor of Edmonton (can’t recall his name) was pushing for consolidation of the two Edmonton airports stating a strong airport was part of a strong economy. He was predicting that if YYC got to be too much bigger than YEG, Edmonton’s economy would start to become a spoke on...

2023 BUMP Barriers + Seasonal Patios

I’ve been thoroughly loving all the patios around the city and they way they bumped them out to allow more space for pedestrians 😎

    Statscan numbers

I googled this because it didn’t seem to add up and results show Moncton around 70-80k for household income, which makes more sense. I have relatives there and have spent time there, I’m 99.9% sure the average household income is much less than 100k.

Despite allowing the drive-thru, the new McDonald’s is still much better than the old one.

    AHC 6th Ave | 25m | 6s | Attainable Homes Calgary | Hindle Architects

I know this building isn’t to everyone’s taste, but it will be 100 times better than an empty parking lot, plus we could use more attainable/affordable housing in the city. As far as the actual design goes, personally, I think it’ll be a nice contrast to the other buildings in the area.
