    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I did not see this posted anywhere. The old Scotia Bank space on 8th Ave & 2 St SW .... 2 stories & big windows ... is going to be an Italian themed establishment. https://www.barbarellabar.ca/ It is a big space so Concorde Group are 'banking' (pun intended) on it to be a popular hangout.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

It was a bar/restaurant that closed over rent default. The place has had several names & owners since it was The Belfry several years ago.

    Calgary's Beltline

The incidents themselves may not be related to the Stampede however I do believe the number of people intoxicated and the level of intoxication goes go up because of the Stampede. For some people, the Stampede is an excuse or a license to drink well beyond their limits. Combine that with other...

    Calgary's Beltline

Sorry to hear about your awful experience in what we should be calling 'our fair city'. Like you, I live downtown and I did notice more loud obnoxious behavior but not to the degree of seeing anyone being assaulted. Unfortunately, the Stampede also brings out the 'inner redneck' in a lot of...

    Urban Multi-Family Construction Count Tracker

The Fifth is still on your list. I am pretty sure Dominion & The Bridges is now complete and people are moving in. Ph 1 of Oliver is completed and people are moving in. Ph. 2 or 450 units are now under construction.

    Stephen Avenue Quarter | 241m | 66s | Triovest | Gibbs Gage

A shareholder activist just forced some changes on their board of directors. Regardless of whether Suncor want a new office tower, how in their right minds could city council approve of such a thing? The city is forking out tens of millions of (our) dollars to convert empty office space to...

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Going from restaurant to residential??? I know the structure is about 2 stories with large window space but I have never heard of that type of conversion before.

    US Politics

Well ... the dots are being connected by the Jan. 6 committee. It is very obvious (and should be to even the most diehard supporter) that Trump schemed to overturn the results of the election by any means possible including unethical or illegal. His closest advisers and the DOJ told him that...

    Stephen Avenue Quarter | 241m | 66s | Triovest | Gibbs Gage

Sunny warm weather + patios + no cars + street entertainment is the formula! Stephen Ave. may look more active than 17 Ave because the core of it is really only 5 blocks versus the 17th Ave core which stretches about10.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

I was hearing on the news last night when they announced these recent residential conversions, that the downtown vacancy rate is at a new high of 33%. So even with all these new tech companies coming on board and occupying some of the space, it has not made any difference. Office space is...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Don't forget about Barron Building although it looks like Strategic Group has. It still has not restarted.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

They are chipping away at the vacant space. Still the biggest problem is the massive empty space in the Class A buildings, none of which will likely ever be converted to residential.

    Nest | 40.23m | 15s | Cairo Development | Casola Koppe

BMP was supposed to be the general contractor. The developer was private. BMP does not seem to be active in Calgary anymore. I don't think they had a particularly good reputation. They do have some projects going on Vancouver Island.

I think it went like this ... Colbert's staff were detained, processed and then released. This means they were not charged with a crime and they were not in the Capitol building as Fox News stated. Complete bullshit!

    Nest | 40.23m | 15s | Cairo Development | Casola Koppe

Well.... there is a new DP application filed for this site. Same architect. Same residential unit count ..70. Does anyone know if the property has changed hands?? The previous developer behind the Nest couldn't get any sales traction. Then the pandemic hit. Then the website and sales center...

    US Politics

Yes. The executive (president), congress and the supreme court are supposed to be co-equal branches of government. Congress can't agree on anything so Biden can't get anything done unless it is by executive order (limited authority). This supreme court seems to want to turn more authority to the...

    BLVD Beltline | 118.87m | 37s | ONE Properties | Arquitectonica

I was surprised to see the grass. I thought for sure, they were going to turn it into a parking lot and cash in on Stampede.
