    BMO Centre Expansion | 25m | 5s | CMLC

The east and south side look great IMO. I think it's going to be more to our exceptions once finished. I'll even make the bold prediction that this angle of Whatchyyc's pic will become an iconic, often photographed angle once the building is finished.

Sad to hear about this. I remember his pics on SSP, they were great.

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

The question should be, why wouldn’t government action work? The projects in the pipeline are there because of the city’s grant. If the province adds funding it’s only going to make it even more viable. The long term affect from WFH is well understood with only two possible outcomes. Vacancy...

    Rivers Edge | 20m | 6s | GBS | NORR

Back in the day I used to work right beside the train tracks, and can also a test that you get used to it, and it’s not a huge problem. The only sound that really bothered me was when the cars were backing up and banging into each other. Didn’t happen that often but I noticed the times it did...

    Multifamily Bridgeland | 16m | 5s | Groupe Denux | ACE

I agree, it’s too busy for my personal taste, but this will be good for Bridgeland, and if I’m being honest, Calgary could use a ton of developments like this one.

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

I don’t know how much trust I would put in developing residential of any kind of size over top of a landfill. From what I’ve seen in the past, usually it’s either a solar farm or a golf course. Sometimes landfills get developed into a strip, malls and stuff like that but nothing much height or...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Wow, I’ve never use that stretch of path in the winter. If I ever do, I’ll bring my skates..

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

You can also see another building under construction in the background. Bridgeland is turning into a nice dense, little neighborhood..

    Urban Development and Proposals Discussion

Just an extra floor by the looks of it. Cochrane officially becomes our first satellite city to have its own skyline!

    University District | ?m | ?s | University of Calgary Properties Group

I had a chance to visit University district in person for the first time in a while yesterday, and the thing that surprised me the most was how busy it was. I’m being serious when I say that University Avenue between the hotel and save-on foods was busier than many of our downtown streets...

    Calgary's Downtown Dilemma

Does the vacancy rate include buildings already slated for residential conversion?

    Calgary's Homeless

Agree. Outside of the places you mentioned, there isn't a huge issue with homeless people in the Beltline. You see them around, but most of those types are the bottle pickers. They're harmless. I'd argue there's more of an issue with idiots drinking too much and getting into fights or idiots...

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

Yeah it’s a weird one. The city would get much more bang for their buck extending the 5th street path from 17th to Elbow. That section if built would 50 times as riders as the 18th street section. I’m not exaggerating the number either.

    Sunalta Heights | 88.39m | 27s | Housing One | S2

This tower, 11-11 and west village towers have really changed the west end of the skyline.

    Riverwalk | 45.11m | 12s | Campion | S2

A lot of materials and styles happening, but I like it.

Too many colors, other than that it’s fine.

    West Nineteenth | 24m | 6s | EC Living | Casola Koppe

As far as office buildings go, this is good. The extra retail will be nice, now they just need to put a proper cycle track on 19th.

Calgary Bike Lanes and Bike Paths

I had a chance to enjoy the new extension of 12th Ave. cycle track yesterday. It was nice. I get frustrated sometimes that cyclist infrastructure in Calgary isnt progressing fast enough but, yesterday reminded me that we’ve had some wins over the last five years. Also on a sidebar, Two House...

    Calgary Regional Rail Transit

I do think Sweden, just like the rest of Europe is ahead in her thinking compared to Canada, but you can’t really compare Alberta to Sweden. Most of Sweden’s 10 million people live in a 100,000 km² area, whereas 70% of Alberta’s 4.5 million people live in two metro areas that are a 3 Hour drive...
