Sheldon Chumir v2 lol.... I was going to say I actually like the balconies only because the in-your-face appearance makes you realize this is a residential building and not a new hospital.

Interesting. I thnk I seen excavators moving around on Vesta's Springbank Hill parcel as well. Quite ambitious if both projects move forward.

    General Construction Updates

Speaking of Cidex, coming in on the Blue Line from the West this morning I noticed their 14th Street tower is still largely empty. Wonder if the rental market downtown is slowing down. Albeit with some more Cidex context... I recently moved out of their West Village tower because their renewal...

    General Construction Updates

Not sure if there's a thread or much knowledge on, but this building in Beltline (NW corner 11th Ave 10 St) is being torn down. Seen about a week ago demolition is well underway...

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

I get that every bit helps, but we can't blame government for not providing an incentive. How much of an inventive should there be to make people happy? How much of an incentive will piss off people for government funding private investment? Should we blame Smith for choosing hotels over shools...

    Scotia Place | 36.85m | 11s | CSEC | HOK

Why is anyone to blame? If investors believe this market will return a profit on building a hotel, they will do so. Pretty simple, if YOU believe it, then please fork out $80,000,000 for all us to enjoy seeing another tower in the Beltline. If a government incentive is the make-or-break point...

    The Forge | 16.5m | 6s | Kanas | Gibbs Gage

892 square feet starting at $3400 and doesn't even have a gym, that's absurd. Is that even with one parking stall at least?

Whether there will be brick all the way up will make or break this for me. We don't want another Centro, especially so close by.

No new partners have been confirmed, Aspen senior management is keeping pretty hush about all that but they seem really busy around the office.

    Palliser One | 122m | 27s

There will be no reclad, only the 16/17th floor cantilevered amenity space is the major change to the exterior. As well as new windows that are more energy efficient and can be opened.

    Palliser One | 122m | 27s

Seen latest iteration of residential conversion plans. It's pretty much going to be the last rendering with the cantilevered cut-out on the 16-17th floors. Floors 15 and below will have a whopping 20 units per floor, 18 and above will have 18. Full window replacement on the entire building (the...

Mine is how they weren't able to add black-trimmed balcony doors to match the windows. Those white doors stand out in a bad way.

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

Having external investors is obviously the cheaper and more favorable form of financing. However, it's not easy to round up investors, and so smaller / not yet well-established companies use more debt financing. To answer your question, every project has a unique form of financing and a tough...

    Flyover Block | 20m | 6s | RNDSQR | FAAS Architecture

Lack of funding could have been a major issue. I think we saw a lot of small projects stall out as COVID and interest rate increases have made banks risk-averse. Large projects like the convention centre had funding locked in.
