So the answer is a resounding "NO" (56.4% vs 43.5%ish). You know and I know that this was not technically a vote about whether or not to use taxpayer money to build a new stadium... but we also both know that is exactly what it was about. Personally, I think - done the right way - the...

Incredible. I hadn't realised how eclectic the architecture was. They took nods from ancient Athens' "stoa". There are indigenous and natural allusions at every turn. There is a mix of modernist and organic materials. It almost falls to the Mondrian and geometric motifs of the past decade, then...

One Way or Two Way streets- - which is better?

It depends. My sense is that 1-ways move more cars per hour at higher velocities, with less space between cars, and better transitions to to freeways. They also reduce waits for left turns. My sense is that 2-ways are less frustrating to tourists and people learning their way around, promote...

Can anyone comment further on the single vs double bore? I don't think I've ever been in a vertically stacked single bore metro station.

I know a few people who live alone in a 1 or 2 br and rent out their flats constantly when they go out of town, a few times per month. It's probably a sample bias, but it seems to me that this there is a ton of demand for this - even more than there is for hotels, at least for personal travel.

Calgary needs more coyote. It's more a symbol of our city than people realize. Also, a fixture of Thomas King novels set in Alberta. Or is that a fox?

Wow! Reminds me of their ad/render where Parkside glows.

This library is making me pay more attention to the design of City Hall (which also has a pointy north end, also encloses a pedestrian walkway, also covers a c-train tunnel, is directly across the street and has similar massing).

I predict 75% Airbnb. I don't mean that as a criticism, but it's going to be the most profitable use most a lot of central flats in the future.

There's a lot of potential there. I'm okay with it, but my (un-optimistic) hope is this: -better pedestrian and bike transit between Cougar Ridge, Valley Ridge, Bowness, Valley Ridge, and Tuscany. Currently these are all within about 1-2km but requires several km of high speed limit roads to get...

The perimeter of this park has some of the most diverse uses of any block in the city. CD-X for the win!

It really feels quite close to Millennium Park, doesn't it. Should inject a bit of life and love once the tenants are walking their pomeranians through the skateboarders.

Are you implying that the weather is too cold or that it's too hot and sweaty? Seriously though, I believe every second downtown road should have bike lanes. Not cycletracks, just 3 feet of paint. And you're right, it should mainly be built with women in mind.

    General Construction Updates

@CBBarnett for council! Globally, I see people want to live in cities, travel to cities, and spend longer and longer portions of their lives in cities. Every year driving is more of a nuisance and less of an enjoyable luxury. There's still a big market for SFH, but the price is ever climbing...
